Eury-ftreet in Eeavis-Marlcs, Provifo to fave harmlefs £uildcrs. or thereby impaired or lefleneJ in Value ; as alfo for the Affefling and Raifing of Monies upon thofe that Ihall by the Means aforcdiid make Im|)rovcmcnt or Melioration of any of tlie faid Ground fo imployed ; the fame Powers, Authorities, Form andCourfe of Proceedings, (hall in ail Things be ufed, exercifed, put in Praftice and obfcrved, as are by the faid recited Act (made for the Rebuilding o'i London) ordained provided and appointed for Satisfadtion to be made for Groimd employed for the Enlargement of Streets and raifages, and ior AirelJinents to be made in Confideration of Improvements and Melioration of Houfes and Ground ; and that the Return of the Key about JFhitc-Fiicrs Dock fhail not exceed the Breadth of tvifeniy Foot. L. And for the Security and Encouragement of futh as have or {hall rebuild upon the Site of any Houfe or Houfes burned or demolifhcd by reafon of the faid late Fire, againfl: fecret Charges and Incumbrances, wherewith or whereunto the fame fliall or may be charged or liable ; {7.) Be it further enacted by the Au- thority aforcfaid, That no fuch Houfe or Houfes alieady built or to be rebuilt within t!ie faid City ox London or Liberties thereof, nor the Owners or others interefted therein, fhall after the Rebuilding thereof be fur- ther liable to the SatisfacScion of any Charge or Charges, Incumbrance or Incumbrances, wherewith or whereunto the fame are or may be liable, by any Matter or Thing before the faid late Fire, than the Va- lue of the Ground or Soil, in Cafe the lame had not been rebuilt upon, might or would extend to fatisfy; unlefs fuch Charges or Incumbrances as were contrafted thereupon by the now Owners or others interelled therein, who fliall themfelves be and remain liable to fatisfy the fame, as if this prefent Adi had never been had or made. ' LI. And whereas many Deeds, Evidences and other Writings were in the faid Fire loft, burnt or imbe- ' zilled, by which Misfortune many Perfons who have Land in the faid City are rendred unable to maice ' their Right and Title fo apparent as can fatisfy fuch as would talce Leafes of their faid Lands, and build ' upon them;' (2) Be it enaftcd. That if any Perfon or Perfons, who have been lawful PofTeflbrs and efteemed Owners of any Ground within the faid City, for the Space of one and twenty Years or more, fhall grant a Leafe to any Perfon or Perfons of the faid Land upon a valuable Ground -Rent, fo to be efteemed by the faid Mayor and Aldermen or any three of them, if the faid Land fhall afterward be reco- vered from the faid Perfon fo granting, That the Leafe fliall be good and valid, the Builders only paying the aforefaid Ground-Rent to the Perlbn unto whom the Ground flrall rightly belong, fhall be freed from- all Charge and Trouble ; any Law or Cuflom to the contrary notwirhftanding. ' LK. And v/hereas the W'ater-houfe at or near Broken-Wharf was wholly burnt down and confumed in ' the Time of the late dreadful Fire, which being found impoflible to be rebuilt with Brick, the Owners ' thereof have at their very great Charge lately rebuilded the faid Houfe with Timber, and made the fame .' ufeful for ferving the Inhabitants of the City with Water ;' (z) Be it therefore enafted and declared by the Authority aforcfaid. That the faid Owners and their Affigns are hereby and fhall for ever hereafter be faved harmlefs and indemnified from all Trouble or Penalties, for or by Reafon of their building the faid Houfe with Timber as aforefaid; any Thing in this AcSt or in the former AiSh for rebuilding the City of London to the contrary thereof in any wife nocwithfl'anding. LIII. Provided, That no Continuance of the faid Reftraint from Building fliall extend to the Water- houle at London-Bridge, but that the fame may be built according as in the former A6f is provided. LIV. Provided always, That it may be lav.'ful for any Perfon or Perfons, Bodies Politiclc or Corporate, Owners and Proprietors of any fuch Ground meant or contained within this Aft, to leave any old Foun- dations of his or theirs unbuilt, to make any new Street or Paflage, or to enlarge any old ones, the faid Owners or Proprietors taking Care within convenient Time after their Building, fufficiently to pave and amend all fuch Street and Pafliiges ; any Thing in this Aft or any other Aft, intituled. An AB for rebuild- ing the City of London, to the contrary notv/ithftanding. LV. Provided alfo, and be it enafted. That the Lord Mayor and Court of Aldermen fhall be hereby impowered to caufe a Street to be opened fourteen Foot wide, if they fliall fo think fit, from the Weft-end of Tbreadncedle-Jlrcd down to I^oathbitry, in cafe the Propi'ietors do not voluntarily fo open it before the four and twentieth Day of June next, making fuch Allov/ances to the Owners and others interefted, as by the former Aft for opening of Streets is direfted ; which Street fhall be and continue an open Street for ever. LVI. Provided always^ and be it hereby enafted. That the Remainder of Bury-Jlreet in Bcavis-AIarb which is not yet new-built, may be built after the Pattern and Model of the other new Building in the faid Street ; any Thing in this or the faid former Aft to the contrary notwithftanding. ' LVII. And whereas many Builders of Houfes within the faid City, and the Liberties thereof, Kave (for ' the more Regularity of Building, and making many of the Streets and Lanes more ftraight and beautiful ' than otherwife they would have been) by and with the Appointment and Approbation of the faid Sur- ' veyors, advanced their Foundations in many Places further into the Streets and Lanes thereof, upon the ' Soil of the faid Streets and Lanes, than the fame formerly ftood, whereby fome Difference may hereafter ' poffibly arife, either between our Sovereign Lord the King, his Heirs and Succeflbrs, or between the ' Mayor, Commonalty and Citizens of the faid City, or other Proprietors of the Ground fo built upon, ' and the faid Builders, or fuch Perfon or Perfons, Bodies Politick and Corporate, to whom the Inheritance ' of the faid Hcnifes fo built, now doth or hereafter fliall belong:' (2) For Prevention whereof, Be it further enafted, That all Ground and Soil io taken, or which hereafter fhall or may be fo taken out of the faid Streets or Lanes or any of them, fliall from henceforth for ever be united and annexed to the faid Houfes : And that all and every Perfon and Perfons whatfoever, Bodies Politick and Corporate, giving fuch Satisfaftion to his Majefty, or to the faid Mayor, Commonalty and Citizens of the fiid City, or other the refpeftive Owners or Proprietors of the Ground fo built upon, and according to fuch Rates as are or ought to be given and allowed for Ground taken and employed for the Enlarging of Streets, by Virtue of the aforefaid Aft for rebuilding of the faid City, fliall and may hold and enjoy the faid refpeftive Parcels of
