An A<n: for removing and preventing all Queftions and Difputes concerning the aflembling and fitting of this prefent Parliament. FO R ureventing all Doubts and Scruples which may in any wife arlfe concerning the Meeting, Sitting, and Proceeding of this prefent Parliament; be it declared and enafted by the King's and Queen's moft Excellent Majefties, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, now aflembled, and by Authority of the fame : II. That the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons,' convened at Wejiminjler, h.e two and The Convention twentieth Day oi January in the Year of our Lord one thoufand fix hundred eighty-eight, and there fitting <i_'='='^'* ^ ^"- cn the thirteenth Day ox February following, are the two Houfes of Parliament, and fo fliall be, and are'"""^" hereby declared, enadted, and adjudged to be, to all Intents, Conftruftions, and Purpofes whatfoever, not- withftanding any Want of Writ or Writs of Summons, or any other Defeft of Form or Default whatfo- ever, as if they had been fummoned according to the ufual Form : And that this prefent ABl, and all other A(fts, to which the royal Aflent (hall at any Time be given before the next Prorogation after the faid thir- teenth of i^if^rai^rj', (hall be underftood, taken, and adjudged in Law, to begin and commence upon the faid thirteenth of February, on which Day their faid Majefties, at the Requeft, and by the Advice of the Lords and Commons, did accept the Crown and Royal Dignity of King and Queen of Eiigland, France, and Ireland, and the Dominions and Territories thereunto belonging. III. And be it further ena£ted by the Authority aforefaid, That the A£l made in the thirtieth Year of Ttie old Oatht King Charles the Second, intituled. An ASlfor the more effeSlual preferving the King's Per/on and Government, ^ ^H^gia'^ce, hy difabling of Papijls from fitting in either Houfe of Parliament, and all other Afts of Parliament, as to fo taken°bVMem- much of the faid A(9: or A£ts only, as concerns the taking the Oaths of Supremacy and Allegiance, or either bers, 30 Cjr. 2. of them, in the faid Aft or Afts refpeftively mentioned, by any Member or Members of either Houfe of ftat. 2, e. i. Parliament, with relation to their fitting and voting in Parliament, fhall be, and are hereby repealed to all Intents and Purpofes ; any thing in the faid recited A£t or A£ls to the contrary notwithftanding. > IV. And be it further ena£ted. That the taking the Oaths herein after mentioned, and the making, fub- New Oaths fcribing, and repeating the Declaration in the faid ASt of the thirtieth Year of King Charles the Secorid [jj^ pi",'!^^^ mentioned, by every Member of either Houfe of this prefent Parliament, from and after the firft Day of the oil' * March next enfuing, in fuch Manner as the taking the faid Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, and the making, fubfcribing, and repeating the faid Declaration in the faid laft mentioned Adl are required, {hall be good and efFeftual to all Intents and Purpofes, as if the faid Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy had been taken, and the faid Declaration had been m.ade, fubfcribed, and repeated in fuch Manner, and at fuch Time, as by the faid A£t or A6ts, or any of them, they are required. And that, in all future Parliaments, the Oaths herein after mentioned, and the Declaration in the faid Aft, made in the thirtieth Year of King Charles the Second mentioned, ftiall be taken, made, fubfcribed, and repeated by every Member of either Houfe of Parliament, within the Time, and in the fame Manner and Form, and under the Penalties and Difabilities, as the faid Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, and the faid Declaration, by the faid Aft of the thirtieth Year of King Charles the Second are limited, ordained, and appointed to be taken, made,, fubfcribed, and repeated, and not at any other Time, or in any other Manner, to enable them to fit and vote in Parliament ; any thing in the faid Aft or Afts, or any of them, to the contrary notwithftanding. y. And it is -hereby further enadted and declared by the Authority aforefaid, That the Oaths above ap- '^^^ Oatbii pointed by this Aft, to be taken in the Stead and Place of the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, fliall be in the Words following, and no other.
