An ASl for taking away the Court of IVards, and Liveries, and Tenures in Capite and by Knhhts Service, and Purveyance, undjcttling a Revenue on his Majejiy in lieu thereof, or by any oiher Law or Statute now in Force relating to the Revenue of Excife; and that as fully and amply to all In- tents as if the feveral Claufes in the laid Acts, or any of them, contained, were herein re-enafted or re- peated. Entncsof the VI. And be it enafted. That all Makers and Proprietors of Salt, and Rock-falt, within the Kingdom Quantities. oi England, Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick upon Tiveed, fhall from Time to Time make true Entries with the faid Officers fo lo be appointed as aforefaid, feme or one of them, of the Quantities of Salt fo by them made, or taken out of any Pit or Pits, and delivered or imported as aforefaid, and (hall to.cmoveSak"'^ ji'^s^"'^ have a Warrant or Ticket, under the Hand and Seal of fome one of the laid Officers, impower- ing fuch Maker or Proprietor of Salt to carry away the fa'me, before fuch Time as the faid Salt made or taken out of any Pit or Pits, within any the Places aforefaid, or any Part thereof, fhall be removed or carried from the refpcftive Salt-Vv^orks orPiis, under the feveral Penalties and Forfeitures herein after men-i tioned, which faid Warrant the faid Officers are hereby required to give gratis unto the faid Makers or Proprietor-s of fuch Salt, upon Payment, or giving Security for the Payment, of the Duties hereby grant- ed, within fix Months after fuch Entry made; which Security the faid Commiffioners and Officers are hereby authorized and required tp accept upon fuch Entry as aforefaid. Provided always. That if any Rebate on Perfon or Perfons, at the Time of the Entry and Delivery of his or their Salt, {hall pay down the Duty l-rcmpt ay- j^gj.g|^y impofed, fuch Perfon or Perfons fhall be allowed at the Rate of ten Pounds per Centum per Annum for the fame. Penalty for Salt . VII. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That it fhall and may be lawful for the faid '^°" w'"^ '^*'- Officers, fo appointed, to feize all fuch Salt, which fhall from and after the faid five and twentieth Day of out Witriin. ^^,.jy jje conveying or conveyed, by Day or by Night, either by Land or by Water, before due Entry be { ')] made of fuch Salt, without Warrant, Ticket, or Licence, obtained from the Commiffioners of the Du- ties granted by this Aft, their Colleftors or Officers, or fome or one of them as aforefaid, for the convey- ing or carrying the faid Salt : And the Salt that fhall be fo feized fhall be brought to the Office appointed for thefe Duties, next adjoining to the Place where fuch Salt {hall be fo feized, there to be detained and. kept; and in cafe the Salt fo feized fhall not be claimed by the true and lav/ful Owner thereof, or by one deputed under his or their Hand, within ten Days after Seizure, the faid Salt fhall be abfolutely for- feited to their MajelHes, and fhall be fold the next general Day of Sale, to be appointed by the Coniif- fioners, or their Officers refpeftively, after tihe faid Days are expired; the one Moiety or half Part of the Proceed thereof (all neceffary Charges being firft dcdufted out of the whole) to be paid to the Ufe of their Majefties, and the other Moiety or half Part to be paid to the Party or Parties who feized the fame : And in cafe fuch Salt fo feized fhall be claimed within ten Days, by the true ajid lawful Owner thereof, or by one deputed thereunto under his Pland, and if the faid Owner or Claimer fhall neverthelefs negleft, or re- fufe to make it appear before the next Juftice of Peace of the County where fuch Seizure fhall be made, Further Penalty by the Oath of One or more credible WicnefTes (which Oath the faid Juflrice is hereby impowered to ad- ^y ^ ^^ Anns, j^injfter) that the faid Salt fo feized was or had been duly entred, and a Warrant, Ticket, or Licence ob-, c. 14. §. S. tained for the Carrying and conveying the fame as aforefaid, that then the faid Salt fhall likewife be for- feited to their MajefHes, to be fold and difpofed of as aforefaid; and every Perfon who {hall carry or con- vey, or caufe any Salt to be carried and conveyed, before due Entry be made, and Warrant or Licence obtained as aforefaid, fnall likewife forfeit to their Majeflies double the Value of fuch Salt fo carried or conveyed. Retailer not to VIII. And be it further enafted. That no Retailer or Shopkeeper fhall be permitted to {hip any Salt to convey Salt by ^g f^j,(- (-q ^ny Port v/ithin this Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick upon Water, before <j'^^jgifi_^ before he hach made it appear by Oath, or otherwife, before the Com.miffioners for collefting of the faid Duties granted by this Aft, or their Officers, or fome, or one of them, that the Duty of fuch Salt ' is paid, or fecured to be paid, or that it was bought of fome other Retailer or Shopkeeper that hath paid the Duty. That all and every Mafter and Commander of any Ship or VefTcl what- ru how to aft. fQgyej-^ th ,t from and after the faid five and twentieth Day of March fhall tranfport or carry any Salt, or Rock-falt from one Port to another, within this Kingdom oi England, Dominion of Wales, and Town of Benvick upon Tweed, fhall (before he or they have any V/arrant for the landing or delivering of fuch Salt, by him tranfported and carried on Shore in any Port) deliver to the Officers for collefting the faid Du- ties o-ranted by this Aft, in the faid Port appointed to- receive the fame, a true Particular of the Quantity! fo tranfported and carried as aforefaid, figned by the Officers for collefting the faid Duties granted by thisr Aft and by the Officers of the Cuftoms of the Port from whence the faid Ship or VefTel came; and ihati then th3 Mafter or his Mate, or the Boatfwain of fuch Ship or VefTel fhall maki Oath before the Commif- Thefc Provifions j-pjig-g {"qj. colleftin"- the faid Duties granted by this Aft, or their Officers, fome, or one of them.
