That all Vellum, Parchment, and Paper hereby intended to be charged to be marked .^^|(-h ^hg f yeral and refpeftive Duties aforefaid, fhall, before any of the Matters or Things herein before bc/ote written, ^jje^tjoned fliall be thereupon ingrofl'cd or written, be brought to the Head Office aforefaid, or fome othei Sub-Commiffioner or Officer to be appointed by the Commiffioners, as herein is diredted for that Purpofe, to be ftamped and marked; and the faid Commiffioners, Sub-Commiffioners, and Officers aforefaid, are hereby impowered and required forthwith, upon Demand to them made by any Perfon or Perfons, to ftamp or mark any Quantities or Parcels of Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, he or they paying to iuch Of- ficer or Officers as fhall be appointed in that Behalf, the refpe£five Duties hereby directed to be paid foi the fame, to ftamp and mark the fame accordingly, without any other Fee or Reward, which Stamp oi Mark fhall be a fuificisnt Difcharge for the feveral and refpedtive Duties hereby granted upon the faid Vell-um, Parchment, or Paper, which fhall be fo ftamped or marked. Penalty upon X. And be it further enadled. That if any Commiffioner or other Officer to be appointed as afore-- Officer ftamping f^.j^j ^^n f^j. ^^y fm-j, Mark or Stamp to any Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, before the feveral and re- beioreDutypaid. j-pg£^j^g Duties thereupon charged by this A£l: fhall be duly anfwered and paid, or be fecured to be paid to their Majefties Ufe, he fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit the Sura of one hundred Pounds ; one Moiety thereof to their Majeflies, and the other Moiety to him or them that fhall inform or fue for the fame in any of their Majefties Courts of Record, by Bill, Phint, or Information, wherein no Effoin, ProtCiSliony Wager of Law, or more than one Imparlance, fhall be allowed, Penalty upan XI. And be it further enafted. That if any Perfon or Perfons fhall ingrofs or write, or caufe to be • "nprer'"^ ingroffed or written, upon any Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, any of the Matters or Things for which before ftamoed, the faid Vellum, Parchment, or Paper is hereby charged to pay any Duty, before fuch Time as the faid {«:, ' ' Vellum, Parchment or Paper fhall be marked or ftamped as aforefaid, or upon which there fliall not be fome Stamp or Mark refembling the fame, or fhall ingrofs or write, or caufe to be ingroffed or written, any Matter or Thing, upon any Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, that fhall be marked or ftamped, for any lower Duty than the Duty by this Aft payable for what fhall be fo ingroffed or written, fuch Perfon fo offending fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit the Sum of five hundred Pounds ; one Moiety thereof to their BieJuced to ; 1. Majefties, and the other Moiety to him or them that will inform or fue for the fame, as aforefaid; and by 6 & 7 w. 3. jj^ ^g^fg^ jj^y Clerk, Officer, or Perfon, who in refpedt of any publick Office or Employment is or fhall yeraity upon ^^ intitled or intrufted to make, ingrofs, or write, any Records, Deeds, Inftruments, or Writings by Officer, &c. of- this Aft charged to pay a Duty, as aforefaid, fhall be guilty of any Fraud or Praftice to deceive'their fending. Majefties of any Duty by this Aft payable, by making, ingroiling, or wrumg any fach Record, Deed, Inftrument, or Writing, or caufing the fame to be made, ingroffed, or written, upon Vellum, Parch- ment, or Paper, not m.arked or ftamped according to this Aft, or upon which there fhall not be fome Stamp or Mark refembling the fame, or upon Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, marked or ftamped with any Mark or Stamp which he fhall know to be counterfeited, or by ingroffing or writing any fuch Deed, Inftrument, or other Writing upon Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, tiiat fhall be marke-d or ftamped for a^wer Duty, as aforefaid, that then every fuch Clerk, Officer, or Perfon fo guilty of any fuch Friuid or Praft-ice, and being thereof lawfully convifted, fhall (over and above the Penalty aforefaid) forfeit his Office, Place, or Employment refpeftlvely, and be difabkd to hold or enjoy the fame for JfenaUy ugon the futu.re.
