II. For Reformation whereof, Be it therefore enafted by our Sovereign Lord the King, and by the- Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That if any Foreigner, Stranger, native Englijhman, Denizen, Merchant or any other Perfon or Perfons whofoever, do at any Time or Times from or after the P'eaft of St. Michael the' Archangel next coming after the End of this prefent Seflion of Parliament, bring or caufe to be brouglit, into this Realm of Englaiid, out from any other foreign Realm or Dominions from beyond the Seas, any Hops being deceitfully or corruptly unclean, corrupt or mixt with any Powder, Duft, Drofs, Sand or any other Soil whatfoever, that every Perfon fo offending therein contrary to this Aft, fhall foifeit the fame Hops fo brought into this Realm. III. And for the better Avoiding of the Danger of Sicknefs by ufing of the falfe packed, unclean and The Forfeiture corrupt Hops; (z) Be it therefore further ena6ted by the Authority aforefaid. That it any Brewer of Beer J°gg|_^"J'^sAie or Ale, or any other Perfon which fhall buy the fame Hops fo brought from beyond the Seas or growing n^id with corrupt within this Realm, and fliall imploy and fpend the fame about.the Making or Brewing of Beer or Ale to <"■ mingled be fold, being unclean, corrupt or mixt with any Powder, Duft, Drofs, Sand or any other Soil whatfo-^^P*' ever, every Perfon fo offending therein contrary to the. Intent of this A6t, fhall in like Sort forfeit for the fame Offence, the Value of thofe Hops fo bought, imployed or fpent in Brewing ; ( 3 ) the one Moiety of all which Forfeitures fliall be to our Sovereign Lord the King, his Heirs and SuccefTors, the, other Moiety thereof to him or them that will feize the fame, or fue for the fame by Bill, Plaint, Information or A6tion of Debt in any of the King's Courts of Record; in which no E"ffbin, Protedlion or Wager of Law fhall be allowed, &c.
