And for the better fecuring of the Succeffion of the Crown in fuch Manner, as in and by an Aft made in the lirft Year of the Reign of King William and Queen Mary, intituled, Jn A£i declaring the Rights and Liberties of the Subje^, and fettling the Succeffion of the Crown, is provided, limited and appoint- ed: Be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That no Commiflion, either Civil or Military, {hall ceafe, determine or be void, by Reafon of the Death or Demiie of His prefent Majefry, or of any of His Heirs or Succeflbrs, Kings or Queens of this Realm, but that every fuch Commiffion fliall be, continue and remain in full Force and Virtue, for the Space of fix Months next after any fuch Death or Demife, unlefs in the mean Time fuperfeded, determined or made void by the next and immediate Succeffor, to whom the Imperial Crown of this Realm, according to the Aft of Settlement herein before mentioned, is limited and appointed to go, remain or defcend. - W the faid Exportation is ftill continued, whereby daily Mifchiefs and Evils do happen, and a Cor-
' refpondence with France is maintained, to the great Prejudice of the Government, and Difcouragement of ' the Manufafture of this Kingdom. ' II. And whereas in the firli: Year of the Reign of King William and Queen Mary, there paffed an ' Aft, intituled, An ASi for the better preventing the Exportation of TF^ooll, and encouraging the Woollen Manu- ^ faSfures of this Kingdom; which Aft was continued by an Aft made in the fourth and fifth Years of King ' V/iLLlAM and Queen Mary, intituled. An A 51 for reviving, continuing and explaining feveral Laws ' therein mentioned, zvhich are expired, and near expiring, and will now foon expire: And whereas for pre- ' venting the faid Mifchiefs, it is necefi^ary the faid Act fliould-be continued :' I.I. Be it therefore enafted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament afiembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That the faid Aft, and every Claufe, Matter and Thing therein contained (except what is hereafter othervi;ife altered, explained or repealed) fhall continue and remain in full Force, as if the fame were herein and hereby particularly recited and mentioned. ' IV. And whereas the Statute of the thirteenth and fourteenth of King Charles the Second, made ' againft the Exportation of Wooll, among other Things in the faid Aft mentioned, doth enaft the fame ' to be deemed Felony ; by the Severity of which Penalty the Profecution of Offenders hath not been fo ' effeftually put in Execution ;' Be ic therefore enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That fo much of the faid Aft, which relates to the making the faid Offence Felony, be repealed and made void. V. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That for the better Encouragement of the Im- portation of Wooll from Ireland, that it fhall and may be lawful for any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, from the Place or Places in the faid Aft limited, to import into England from Ireland any Quantity or Quan- tities of Wooll, to any the Ports hereafter mentioned (that is to fay) Whitehaven in the County oi Cumber- land, Leverpoole, Chefter, Brijiol, Bridge-water, Minehead, Barnjiaph and Biddiford, and to no other ; any thing in this Aft to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithflanding. VI. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That the Commiffioners or Farmers of the Cuftoms in the Kingdom o^ Ireland (or the time being, fhall from time to time, and at all Times hereafter, once every fix Months, tranfmit or caufe to be tranfmitted unto the Commiifioners of His Majefly's Cu- floms in England, a true Account of all fuch Wooll as fliall be from time to time exported from any of the Places within the faid Kingdom of 7r^/a,W, from whence the fame may be exported, the Quantity and Weight thereof, and by whom, and in what Ships exported, and where configned, and the Names of the Perfons figning the Certificates of the landing tlie fame in England, and the Date of the faid Certificates, and where the fame was landed, as alio the Quantity and Weight contained in the faid Certificates, in order that the fame may be compared with the Account by the faid Aft appointed to be kept by the Commiffio- ners of the Cufloms of this Kingdom. VII. And for preventing the Mifchiefs of rafing, obliterating or interlining fuch Certificates as afore- faid, be it further enafted. That all Certificates given for the Landing of Wooll from Ireland, or from one Port to another in England, fhall be written upon Pap:r, and not Parchment, and that the Quantities there- in expreff'ed fhall not be obliterated or interlined upon any Pretence whatfoever. ' VlII. And whereas the feveral Inhabitants of the feveral Counties and Shires of this Realm next ad- ' joining to the Kingdom of Scotland, and to the Sea Coaffs, do reap great Profit and Advantage by the car- ' rying out of Wooll, Wooll-fells, Mortlings, Shorlings, Yarn made of Wooll, Woolj-flocks, Fullers ' Earth, and Scouring Clay, into the faid Kingdom oi Scotland, and exporting of them into France, and ' other Parts beyond the Seas, to the great Prejudice and Decay of the Woollen M.anufafture of ihis ' Realm ;' be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the firft Day q( May in the Year of our Lord one thoufand fix hundred ninety-fix, no Wooll, or any other of the Commodities afore- faid, fhall be laid or loaden on any Hoife, or oth r Carriage whatfoever, or fhall be carried orcor.veyed by Land, to or from any Place or Places within the faid Counties next adjoining to the faid Kingdom l4 Scot- land, or within five Miles of the Sea Coall, as aforefaid, but between Sun rifing and Sun-fett,ng, ur.Je.- the Penalty and Forfeiture of the faid Commodities, and of the faid Horfes, and other Cattle and Carriages employed '
