An A^ for the better Support of her Majefty's Houfhold, and of the Honour and Dignity of the Crown. Mofl Gracious Sovereign, WHEREAS by an Aft of Parliament made in the fecond Year of the Rei'gn of your Majefty's Royal Brother and Sifter, our late Sovereign Lord and Lady King William and Queen A-Iary (of blefied Memory) intituled. An Act for granting to their Majejlies for their Lives, and the Life of the Sur- vivor of them, certain I?npofttio7is upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, it was amongft other Things ena£led. That the feveral Rates, Duties, and Impofitions upon Beer, Ale, Cyder, and other Liquors, menti- oned in an A&. of Parliament made in the twelfth Year of the Reign of your Majefty's Royal Uncle King Charles the fecond, intituled, A Grant of certain Impofitions ttp07i Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, for the Increafe of his Majejljs Revenues, during his Life, and thereby granted to the faid late King Charles the fecond for his Life, fhould be levied, collefted, and paid to their faid late Majefties King William and Queen Mary, during their Lives, and the Life of the Survivor of them, in fuch Man- ner and Form as by the faid firft mentioned Ail is expreffed : And whereas by an Aft made in the ninth Year of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King Willi a.m, intituled, An Act for granting to his Majefty a further Subfidy ofTunnage and Poundage, towards raiftng the yearly Sum of f even hundred thoufand Pounds, for the Service of his Majejiy's Houjhold, and other Ufes therein mentioned, during his Majefty's Life, feveral Subfidies ofTunnage and Poundage, and other Duties upon the feveral and refpeftive Wines, Goods, and Merchandizes, in the fame Aft particularly mentioned, were granted to his faid late Majefty King William, from the laft Day of January, which was in the Year of our Lord one thoufand fix hundred ninety and nine, during his Majefty's Life, for the Ufes and Purpofes therein mentioned : And whereas by an Aft of Parliament made in the tenth Year of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King William, for laying further Duties upon Sweets, and for leffening the Duties upon Vinegar, and other Things therein mentioned, all former Duties charged upon Vinegar, Vinegar Beer, and Liquors preparing for Vine- gar, were determined ; and it Was thereby (amongft other Things) enafted, That froin and after the faid tenth Day of May one thoufand fix hundred ninety-nine, there ftiould be paid for and upon every Bar- rel of Vinegar, Vinegar Beer, or Liquor preparing for Vinegar, which fhould be brewed or made of any Englijh or Foreign Materials^ by any Perfon or Perfons whatfo:ver, for Sale, and fo in Proportion for a greater or leffer Quantity, the Sum -of eight Shillings ; and that fix Pence, Part of the faid Duty of eight Shillings for every Barrel of Vinegar, Vinegar Beer, or Liquor preparing for Vinegar, fliould be raifed and paid to his faid late Majefty King William, during his Life (in lieu of a Duty of fix Pence charged on every Barrel of Vinegar B:er by the faid firft mentioned Aft) and ftiould be paid) ap- plied, and difpofed of, to and for the fame Ufes and Purpofes, as the Duties granted by the fame Aft were direfted to be applied and difpofed of: And whereas by an Aft made in the twelfth Year of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King William, intituled. An ASi for appropriating three thoufand feven hundred Pounds weekly out of certain Branches of Excije, for publtck Ufes, and for making a Provifion for the Service of his Majefty's Houjlnld and Family, and other his necefj'ary Occafons, it was amongft other Things enafted. That from and after the fiive and twentieth Day o^i December one thoufand feven hundred, for and du- ring the whole Term of five Years .^'rom thence next and immediately enfuing, the full, clear, and in- ' tire weekly Sum of three thoufand feven hundred Pounds of d,Vfiu, Englijh Money, out of all the Alo- ' nies arifing by the Hei-editary Rates a;>d Duties of Excife, which were granted to the Crown in the ' twelftli Year of the P^eign of King Charles the fecond, and are mentioned in the Aft laft recited, and ' by the faid Duties of Excife payable during his Majefty's Life, and by every or any of them, if, all thofe ' Duties of Excife fhould fo long coijtinue ; .and if the faid Duties of Excife, payable during his Majefty's ' Life, fhould happen to determine before the End of the faid Term of five Years, then out of the Mo- ■^ nies arifing intirely by the faid Heieditary Duties of Excife, for and during all the Refidue which fhould
