WHEREAS by the Demife of his late Majefty King William the Third, and the Acceflion of her prefent Majefty Queen Anne, to the Imperial Crown and Dignity of thefe Realms,- the Form of an Oath contained in an Aft made in the thirteenth "ear of the Reign of his faid late Ma- jefty, intituled, An ASt for the further Security of his Majejifs Perfon, and the SucceJJion of the Crown in the Protejiant Line, and for the extinguiJJnng the Hopes of the pretended Prince »/"Wales, and all other Pre- tenders, and their open and fecret Abettors, is now become necelTai-y to be altered;' Be it therefore declared and enafted by the Queen's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That from and after the twentieth Day oi April one thoufand feven hundred and two, the Oath in the faid recited A£t mentioned, be adminiftred in fuch Manner and Form as is herein after fet down and prefcribed (that is to fay) I A. B. do truly and fincerely acknowledge, profefs, teftify and declare, in my Confcience before God and the World, That our Sovereign Lady Qi^ieen Anne, is lawful and rightful Queen of this Realm, and of all other her Majefty's Dominions and Countries thereunto belonging. And I do folemnly and fincerely declare. That 1 do believe in my Confcience, that the Perfon pretended to be Prince oi IVales, during the Life of the late King James, and fince his Deceafe pretending to be and taking upon himfelf the Stile and Title of King oi England, by the Name of James the Third, hath not any Right or Title whatibever to the Crown of this Realm, or any other the Dominions thereto belonging : And I do re- nounce, refufe, and abjure any Allegiance or Obedience to him. And I do fwear. That 1 will bear Faith and true Allegiance to her Majefty Qiieen Anne, and her will defend to the utmoft of my Power, againft all traiterous Confpiracies and Attempts whatfoever, which fliall be made againft her Perfon, Crov/n, or Dignity. And I vv'ill do my beft Endeavour to difclofe and make known to her Majefty and her Suc- ceffors all Treafons and traiterous Confpiracies, which I fliall know to be againft her or any of them. And I do faithfully promife, to the utmoft of my Power, to fupport, maintain and defend the Limita- tion and Succeffion of the Crown, againft him the faid James, and all other Perfons whatfoever, as the fame is and ftands limited (by an A£l intituled, An A£i declaring the Rights and Liberties of the Subje£f, and: fettling the Succeffion of the Crozun) to her prefent Majefty and the Heirs of her Body, being Proteftants : And as the faiiie by one other Aift intituled. An ASl for the further Limitation of the Crown, and better fccuring the Rights and Liberties of the SubjeSf, is and ftands limited after the Deceafe of her Majefty, and "for Default of Jffue of her Majefty, to the Princefs Sophia, Eleftorefs and Duchefs Dowager oi Ha- nover, and the Heirs of her Body, being Proteftants. And all thefeThings I do plainly and fincerely acknowledge a^nd fwear, according to thefe exprefs Words by me fpoken, and according to the plain and common Senfe and Underftanding of the fame Words, without any Equivocation, mental Evafion, or fecret Refervation whatfoever. And I do make this Recognition, Acknowledgment, Abjuration, Re- nunciation and Promife, heartily, willingly and truly, upon the true Faith of a Chriftian.' So help me God. Oath to be taken IL And that all and every Perfon and Perfons, who are enjoined or required to adminifter, take or in the Form pie- fubfcribe the Oath in the faid recited Adl mentioned, fhall adminifter, take and fubfcribe the fame, ac- cording to the Form herein fet down and prefcribed; any Thing in the faid recited A£t to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithftanding. ' in. And whereas by an Ai3: made in the feventh Year of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King ' William' the Third, intituled. An Aui for the better Security of his Majejly's Royal Perfon and Govern- ' jnent, it is recited, That for the better Prefervation of his faid IVlajefty's Royal Perfon and Government, ' great Numbers of his Majefty's good Subjects had entred into and fubfcribed an Ailbciation in the ' Words contained in the faid Aft, which Affociation is by the fame Aft required to be fubfcribed in fucji
- Manner, and by fuch Officers and Perfons, and under fuch Forfeitures, Penalties, Incapacities, and
' Difabilities, for the Negleft or Refufal to fubfcribe the fame, as in the faid Aft is mentioned and con- ' tained : And whereas fince the Death of the late King James, and by the Demife of his faid late Ma- ' jefty King V/illiam the Third, the fubfcribing the faid Aflbciation is not neceflliry to be any longer ' continued, fuch Part thereof as relates to the Support and Defence of the Succeffion to the Crown ' therein mentioned^ being more fully provided for by the faid recited Oath;' Be it enafted and declared -JitTcciaiion made by the Authority aforefaid.
