WH ER E A S by an Aft of Parliament made in the third and fourth Years of the Reign of our 3 & 4 Annas, moft gracious Sovereign Queen Anne, intituled. ' ported, into this Kingdom, fhall be feized and condemned, one Moiety to her Majefty, her Heirs and ' SuccelTorSj and the other Moiety to the Informer : And whereas divers of her Majefty's Subjefts, under ' Colour of the faid Aft, have taken upon them to fell and difpofe of French Luftrings and Alamodes fo ' feized and forfeited, as if they were allowed to be ufed and worn in England, which is contrary to the ' true Intent and Meaning of the faid Aft, which was defigned more efFeftually to prevent the Importa- ' tion and Ufe of the faid Silks, and alfo to the manifefi; Prejudice of fo profitable a Manufafture fet up ' in this Kingdom by the Royal Luftring Company, and thereby evading the Force of feveral Afts of ' Parliament paft for the Encouragement of the faid Manufafture :' For Remedy whereof, be it enafted '9 ^- 7- '■ 2i» by the Queen's mofl: Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and- Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament alTembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That Not to counte- neither the before recited Aft for prohibiting all Trade and Commerce with France, nor any thing therein "^"" wearing contained, fhall be conftrued to extend to countenance the ufing and wearing any French Alamodes or ^'^^"'^^ Ala- Luftrings in ti.is Kingdom, but that the fame fhall be feized, condemned and exported in like Manner ftjings^ ^.j.. and Form, and under the like Penalties, as they, are or ought to have been before the palling the faid Aft.
