Provided alfo, That nothing in this A& contained (hall extend, or be conftrued to extend, to pre- judice any Right the two Univeriities of Oxford and Cambridge, or either of them, have, or claim to have to the licenfing any Taverns, Inns, or Alehoures, within their feveral Jurifdiftions, but that the faid Uni- veriities may, from time to time, grant Licences for any Taverns, Inns, and Alehoufes, within their feveral Jurifdidions, fubje£t to the feveral Duties aforeiaid, in. as ample Manner as they refpectively mio-ht laww fully have granted the fame, if this Ad: had never been made ; any thing herein before contained to the contrary thereof notv/ithftanding. LI. Provided always, and be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That this Ad, or any thing therein contained, fhall not in any wife extend to debar or hinder the Mayor and Aldermen of the Borough of St; Albaris in the County oi Hertford^ or their Succeflbrs, from the ufing, exercifing, and enjoying of all fuch Li- berties, Privileges, Powers and Authorities to them heretofore granted (by the Name of Mayor and Bur- gefles) by feveral Letters Patents under the Great Seal of England, by Queen Elizabeth, and King James the Firft, of famous Memories, for the ereding, appointing, and licenfing three feveral Wine Taverns within the faid Borough, for and towards the Maintenance of the Free School there ; but that the fame fhall remain freed and difcharged of and from the Duty of four Shillings a Licence chargeable by this Ad ; any thing therein contained to the contrary in any wife notwithflanding. LII. Provided, That nothing in this Ad contained fhall extend, or be conftrued to extend^ to prejudice any Right the two Univerfities, or either of them, or the Company of Stationers, or any Perfori or Per- fons have, or claim to have, to the printing or reprinting any Almanack or Calendar fubjed to the feveral Duties aforefaid. LIII. Provided always, and be it further enaded by the Authority aforefaid. That nothing in this Ad contained fliall be conftrued to extend to charge any Calendar or perpetual Almanack in any Bible or Common Prayer Book ; or to charge any other Calendar or Almanack, with more than the Duty that would be payable by this Ad for fuch other Calendar or Almanack, in cafe it were made for three Years only. And whereas by an Ad of the prefent Seffion of Parliament, intituled, Jn ASl for ejiablijbing a ' General Pq/i Office for allher Majeflys Dominions^ and for fettling a iveekly Sum out of the Revenues thereof

', ceflary Occafions, by fuch Methods, and in fuch Manner and Form as are herein after mentioned :* Now we your Majefty's faid dutiful and loyal Subjeds, the Commons of Great Britain in Parliament affembled, for and towards the raifmg the faid Sum of two Millions, do further moft humbly befeech your Majefty that it may be enaded; and be it enaded by the Authority aforefaid. That yearly and every Year, during the Term of thirty-two Years, reckoning the firft Year to begin from the nine and twentieth Day of September one thoufand feven hundred and eleven, the full Sum of one hundred eighty-fix thoufand fix hundred and feventy Pounds, by or out of the Monies to arife as well of or for the faid weekly Sum of feven hundred Pounds out of the Revenues of the General Poft Office, and of or for all the faid Du- ties, Rates, and Sums of Money upon Hides, and Skins, and Pieces of Hides and Skins, Vellum and Parchment, by virtue of the faid other Ad', or either of them, and by or out of the Monies of the faid Revenue on Licences for Hackney Coaches and Chairs, and of the faid new Duties upon ftampt Vellum, Parchment and Paper, and upon Cards and Dice, and upon the Exportation of Rock Salt for Ireland, by this Ad granted, and by or out of the Monies to arife by all the faid Branches, every or any of them, and to be brought into the Receipt of the Exchequer, from time to time, in cafe the fame fliall extend to the faid Sum of one hundred eighty-fix thoufand fix hundred and feventy Pounds, fliall be computed and reckoned to be a yearly Fund ; and in cafe all the Monies arifing into the Exchequer of or for all the Duties, Revenues, and Branches charged, as aforefaid, fhall not amount to one hundred eighty- fix thou- fand fut hundred and feventy Pounds per Annum, then the Monies fo arifing, fo far as the fame fliall extend, ihall be Part of the faid yearly Fund of one hundred eighty-fix thoufand fix hundred and feventy Pounds fer
