Be it enaded by the Q^ieen's moft Excellent Majcfty, by and with the Advice and After 20 Sepf. Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this jirefent Parliament afl'emblcd, and by '7'+- i^iihop, the Authority of the fame. That if any llcilor or Vicar having Cure of Souls fliall, from and after the nine fsti'erdT"" and twentictli Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thoufand kvcn hundred and fourteen nominate Curates' not and prcfent any Curate to the Bifhop or Ordinary, to belicenfedor admitted to ferve the Cure of fuch Rector exceeding jol. or Vicar in his Abfence, the faid Bifliop or Oi'dinary, having Regard to the Greatnefs of the Cure, and the per Ann. nor Value of the Ecclefiaftical Benefices of fuch Re£l:or or Vicar fhajl, on or before the granting fuch Licence, ^^'Jj°°|.t. appoint by Writing under his Hand and Seal a fufficient certain Stipend or Allowance, not exceedig fifiy ^" p"" ■=rit'^ Pounds />«- ^;;77. nor lefs than twenty Pounds /)i?r ^/z;?. to be paid or ani'wered at fuch Times as he fiiall ^ay fe^ucfle, think fit, by fuch Reftor or Vicar, to fuch Curate, for his Support and Maintenance ; and if it fliall appear the BEiiefi^e. to the Bifnop or Ortlinary, upon Complaint or otherwile, that any Curate of fuch Redlor or Vicar, licenfed or admitted before the faid nine and twentieth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one t'loufand •feven hundred and fourteen, hath not a fufficient Maintenance, it fliall be lawful to and for the faid Bifliop or Ordinary .to appoint him a certain Stipend or Allowance in like Manner as before m.entioned ; and in cafe any DiiTe.ence (hall arile between any Re£lor or Vicar and his Curate, touching fuch Stipend or Al- lowance, or the Payment thereof, the Bifhcp or Ordinary, on Complaint to him made, fhall fummarily hear and determine the fame; and in cafe of Negle£l or Pvefufal to pay fuch Stipend or Allowance, may fequefter the Profits of fuch Benefice, for or until Payment thereof.

' Livings, and others have been thereby difcouraged ;' Be it further enafted by the Authority t.forefaid, 5,^"^ ^f"^]^"^ That if any Perfon, from and after the twenty-ninth Day of September one thoufand feven hundred and s;c. the next fourteen, fliall or do, for any Sum of Money, Reward, Gift, Profit or Advantage, diredfly or indireftly, Avoidance, &c. or for or by Reafon of any Promife, Agreement, Grant, Bond, Covenant or other AfTurance, of or for any s'-^'- ^- 6- Sum of Money, Reward, Gift, Profit or Benefit whatfoever, direi?Hy or indireifly, in his ov/n Name, or ' ^^^-^ M.Jtau in the Name of any other Perfon or Perfons, take, procure, or accept the next Avoidance of, or Prefenta- tion to any Benefice with Cure of Souls, Dignity, Prebend or Living Ecclefiaftical, and fnall be prefented or collated thereupon, that then every fuch Prefentation or Collation, and every Admiffion, Liftitution, Inveftiture and Induction upon the fame, fliall be utterly void, fruftrate, and of no Efte£t in Law, and fuch Agreement fliall be deemed and taken to be a Simoniacal Contract ; and that it fhall and m.ay be lawful to and for the Queen's Majefty, her Heirs and Succeffors to prefent or collate unto, or give or beftow every fuch Benefice, Dignity, Prebend and Living Ecclefiaftical, for that one Time or Turn only ; and the Per- fon io corruptly taking, procuring, or accepting any fuch Benefice, Dignity, Prebend or Living, fnall thereupon, and from thenceforth, be adjudged a difabled Perfon in Law to have and enjoy the fame Bene- fice, Dignity, Prebend or Living Ecclefiaftical, and fhall alfo be fubject to any Punifliment, Pain or Penally, limited, prefcribed or inflicted by the Lav^s Ecclefiaftical, in like Manner as if fuch corrupt Agreement had been made after fuch Benefice, Dignity, Prebend, or Living Ecclefiaftical had become vacant ; any Law or Statute to the contrary in any wii'e notwithftanding. CAP. XIIL An Aft to difcharge and acquit the Commiffioners of Equivalent for the Sum of three hun- dred eighty- one thoufand five hundred and nine Pounds fifteen Shillings ten Pence Half- penny by them duly iJTued out of the Sum of three hundred ninety-eight thoufand eighty- five Pounds ten Shillings, which they received. HEREAS by the Treaty of Union, and fifteenth Article thereof, it is agreed. That Scotland {h^xV s^a/i.r.'S, have an Equivalent for what the SubjecSs thereof fliall be charged towards Payment of the Debts of ^'wg'&^^/contraiSed before the Union, in all Particulars whatfoever, and particularly that the Sum of " three hundred ninety-eight thoufand eighty-hve Pounds and ten Shillings fliould be granted to her Ma-
