An A£t for continuing feveral Laws therein mentioned relating to Coals, Hemp and Flax, Irifh and Scotch Linen, and the Affize of Bread ; and for giving Power to adjourn the Quarter-Seffions for the County of AnglefeU, for the Purpofes therein mentioned. Be it enacted by the King's moll Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and" Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That an A£t made The Aa of 9 in the Seffion of Parliament held in the ninth Year of the Reign of the late Queen Anne, intituled, An Art Ann. c. 28. to dijfolve the prefent, and prevent the future Combination of Coal-Owners, Lightermen, Mcflers of Ships, and una e cerpet.ua . ^ grs ^ tg advance the Price of Coals, in Prejudice of the Navigation, Trade and Manufactures of this King- dom, and for the further Encouragement of the Coal Trade, which was to continue for three Years, and from thence 60 the End of the next Seffion of Parliament, which A£t was further continued by an Act made in the firft Year of the Reign of his prefent Majefty King George, which will expire at the End of this Seffion of Parliament, fhall be made perpetual. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That an Act made in the Seffion of Parliament, & 12 W. 3. c. held in the eleventh and twelfth Years of his late Majefty King William the Third, intituled, An Ait for 16. made perpe- t j ]e fatter afcertaining the Tithes of Hemp and Flax, which was to continue for feven Years, and from thence to the End of the next Seffion of Parliament; which Act was further continued by an Act made in the 6' Ana. £.28. fixth Year of her faid late Majefty Queen Anne, for feven Years, from the Expiration thereof; which Act was further continued by an Act made in the firft Year of his prefent Majefty King George, and will expire at the End cf this prefent Seffion of Parliament, fhall be made perpetual. And whereas by the faid Act made in the eighth Year of the Reign of her late Majefty Queen ' Anne, intituled, An Ail to regulate the Price and Afftze of Bread, a Penalty of forty Shillings is laid upon ' all Perfons baking or making Bread for Sale, or expofing to Sale any Bread wanting the due Weight, ' or that fhould not be marked according to the Direction of the faid Act; which faid Penalty hath by ' '.Experience, been found to be too great a Hardfhip, and -tended very much to the Oppreffion of the ' Bakers, fometimes for very minute and inconliderable Defaults, and fuch as they (through the many ' Accidents trn.faid Trade is fubject to) cannot always prevent, fome fmall Diminution of Weight, by ' being overbaked, ft.de, or one Loaf fticking to another, while the other hath the Over-weight ; and t. ; e ' Mark put upon Bread, by reafon of the fermenting of the Yeft, becoming very often imperfect, and ' fometimes not apparent:' For Remedy of which Hardfhips for the future.
