doner, Trader and Dealer in fuch Paper, having on thefaid firft Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and fixteen, in his, her or their Cuftody orPoii'effion, or in theCuftody or PoITeffion of any other Perfon or Perfons, for his, her or their Benefit, Ufe or Account, any Stock, Parcel or Quantity of Paper fo printed, painted or ftained, being for Sale, fhall (upon Pain of forfeiting for every Negbdt the Sum of On Penalty of thirty Pounds) deliver or caufe to be delivered, on or before the faid firft Day of June one thoufand feven 3 ol > hundred and fixteen, at the Office for the faid Duties, next to the Place and Places refpeclively, where fuch Stock fhall or may happen to be, a Particular in Writing figned by themfelves or their Appointments, of their feveral Stocks before-mentioned, defcribing the whole Quantities and Kinds thereof diltinctly, to the end and intent that the fame may be duly ftampt and marked with fuch Stamp or Seal, de-noting the charging the faid Duties ; and the Officers for the faid Duties are hereby authorized and impovvered to enter Officers mayen> into any Shops, Warehoufes, or other Places whatfoever, belonging to, or ufed by fuch Merchants, Sta- ^, r """'"y tioners, and other Traders and Dealers in fuch printed, painted and ftained Paper, as aforefaid, there to ,.; e ° p ' c view the fame, and to take an Account thereof; and upon doing thereof, are hereby impowered and required to mark or ftamp the fame, with fuch Stamp or Seal, denoting the charging the faid Duties ; and all and every fuch Merchants, Stationers, and other Traders and Dealers in fuch printed* painted or ftained Paper, a " a t0 ftam P fhall be obliged by force and virtue of this A£t, (if thereunto required) to permit and fuffer the proper 1 e im(: ' Officer and Officers for the fi id Duties, to make 'fuch Entrance and View, as aforefaid, and to take fuch Account and Accounts, and fo to mark fuch Paper ; and if any Perfon or Perfons fhall refufe to permit Kefufmg En- •fuch Officer or Officers to enter into their Shop's, Warehoufes and oth;r Places (being thereunto required) trance forfeit j there to view and take fuch Account and Accounts, and to mark and ftamp fuch Stocks of fuch printed, I0 ° ' painted or ftained Paper, as aforefaid, or any Part thereof, then every fuch Perfon, for every fuch Refufal, fhall forfeit the Sum of one hundred Pounds. XX. Entr y of ercife of his, her or their Trade, all fuch Perfons fhall, before he, fhe or they print, paint, ftain or dye ?* SiU "> &c - any fuch Silks, Ca'licoes, Linens or Stuffs, make a particular Entry of all fuch Silks, Callicoes, Linens- e "" prmtlng ' or Stuff's fo by him, her or them intended to be printed,' painted, ftained or dyed, with the Officer for the faid Duties of the Divifion or Place where he, fhe or they fhall fo intend to print, paint, ftain or dye the fame, and pay down to thefaid Officer all the Duties charged, or which would be due for fuch Goods fo and pay down intended to be printed, painted, ftained or, dyed, upon pricing, painting, ftaining or dying the fanje,. the Diati «.- before he, fhe or they proceed to print, paint, ftain or dye fuch Goods, or any Part thereof; and if fuch Perfon or Perfons fhall print, paint, ftain or dye any fuch- Silks, Callicoes, Linens or Stuffs, without- making fuch Entry, and paying do*wn the Duties thereof, as aforefaid, the Perfon or Perfons offending therein fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit the Sum of fifty Pounds, to be recovered and levied as aforefaid ; On Penalty r and moreover all fuch Silks, Callicoes, Linens and Stuffs fo printed, painted, ftained or dyed, without 5 o1 ' fuch Entry and Payment of Duty, as aforefaid, fhall be, and may be feifed immediately by fuch Officer; one Moiety of fuch Penalties and Forfeitures to be paid to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, and the - other Moiety to the Perfon or Perfons that fhall fue or inform for the fame.
