Provided alfo, and it is hereby further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if at any Time The Surplus of or Times at the End of any Quarter of a Year (reckoning the Quarters to end at the ufual Feafts the hid Duties above-mentioned) there fhall be an Excefs or Surplus of the Agonies brought into the Exchequer of the diipoiMble by faid Rates, Duties, Impofitions and Revenues, and proportional Parts of them, or any of them, and fuch j/^ '. a "q™'i. And for better enabling the faid Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain, and their Company may SuccefTors, to raife Money to be advanced for or in Part of the raid Sum of two Millions, or for carrying on C2 " •"Money their Trade and other neceflary Occafions : It is hereby enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That it mall rT! 11 and may be lawful to and for the faid Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain, and their SuccefTors from Time to Time, as they fhall fee Caufe, to call in, or direct to be paid from and by their refpective Members for the Time being, proportionally according to their refpective Intereft in the capital Stock or Stocks which do or fhall belong to the faid Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain, or by opening their Books of Subfcription, or by granting Annuities redeemable by the faid Governor and Company, and their SuccefTors, or by any other Method, Ways and Means as they fhall think proper, to raife any Sum or Sums of Money, as in a general Court of the faid Governor and Com- pany fhall be judged neceflary, and ordered to be called in ; and that all Executors, Adminiftrators, Guar- dians and Truftees fhall be indemnified in paying the Money which fhall be fo called in ; and in cafe any Members not fuch Member or Members fhall refufe or neglect to pay his, her, or their Share of the faid Money fo called paying their for, at the Time or Times appointed for that Purpofe, by Notice inferred in the London Gazette, and shares > Compa- fixed upon the Royal Exchange in London, It fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Governor and "heir Dividends Company of Merchants of Great Britain, and their SuccefTors, not only to flop the Share, Dividend, & c , Annuity and Profits, which fhall from Time to Time become payable to fuch Member or Members fo neglecting or refufing, of the Funds, Stocks, Annuities or Profits of the faid Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain, and to apply the fame from Time to Time for or towards Payment of the Share of the Money fo called for, and which ought to have been paid by fuch Member or Members fo neglecting or refufing, until the fame fhall be fatisfied, but alfo ftop the Transfers or Affignments of the Share of every fuch Defaulter, and to charge fuch Defaulter and Defaulters with an Intereft after the Rate of ten Pounds per Centum per Annum, for the Money fo by him, her, or them omitted to be paid, until the Payment thereof; and that the Share and Stock, Shares and Stocks of fuch De- faulter and Defaulters fhall be liable to make good and anfwer the faid.
