I'. 2-I * ma( ^ e ' n the fecond Year of her Majefty's Reign, intituled, An All for making more effectual her Majefty's 1 Geo. 1. £.*>,' Gracious Intentions for the Augmentation of the Maintenance of the poor Clergy, hy enabling her Majefty to ' grant in Perpetuity the Revenues of the Fir/1 Fruits and Tenths, and clfo for enabling other Perfons to ma'.e ' Grants for the fame Purpofe, did' in and by her Letters Patents under the Great Seal of England, bearing ' Date the third'Day of November in the third Year of her Majefty's Reign, make, nominate, conftitute
- and appoint the Perfons therein named, to be one Body Politick and Corporate, by the Name of the
- Governors of the Bounty of Queen Anne for the Augmentation of the Maintenance of the poor Clergy,
' with fuch Powers and Authorities as are therein mentioned and expreffed; and did in and by the (aid ' Letters Patents give and grant unto the faid Governors of the Bounty of Queen Anne for the Augmenta-
- tion of the Maintenance of the poor Clergy, and their Sjjcceflbrs, all the Revenues of the Firft-fruits and
4 yearly perpetual Tenths of all Dignities, Offices, Benefices and Promotions Spiritual whatfoever payable ' to her Majefty, her Heirs and SucceiTors, by virtue of any Act or Acts of Parliament whatfoever, and ' all Arrears of the faid Firft-fruits and Tenths (except as therein is excepted) to be applied and difppfed ' of by the faid Governors thereby conftituted to and for fuch Ends, Intents and Purpofes, as in and by
- the faid Letters Patents are contained and directed : And whereas the Laws now in Force relating to the
' Collection and Payment of that Part of the faid Revenue, called the perpetual yearly Tenths, are in
- fome Cafes defective, and in many Inftances are found to be inconvenient and improper to be put in
' Execution, by reafon whereof her late Majefty's faid Gracious Intentions cannot fo well and effectually ' be anfwered as they might be, if fome new Provifions and Regulations were made and eftablifhed for the ' more eafy and expeditious levying and paying the faid perpetual yearly Tenths :' For Remedy therefore of fuch Defects and Inconveniencies, and to the end that the faid Governors may be the better enabled to execute the Truft in them repofed, and the poor Clergy may, with greater Eafe and Advantage, receive fht Archbifhops the Benefit of the faid Royal Bounty; Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with and Bifliops dif- the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons in this prefent Parliament charged irom re- a] fembled, and by Authority of the fame, That the moft Reverend the Archbifhops, and the Right Reve- petuT^yearly"" ren ^ l ^ e Bifhops of England, who by the Statute made in the twenty-ftxth Year of the Reign of King -Tenths. Henry the Eighth, intituled, The Bill for the Firfl-fruits, with the yearly Pen/ions to the King, and by other 26 H. S. c 3. fubfequent Statutes, are conftituted and appointed Collectors of the faid Revenue of the perpetual yearly Tenths within their feveral Diocefes refpedtively, and charged with the Receipt and Payment of fuch Collection, and made accountable for the fame, from and after the twenty-fixth Day of December laft paft, be, and each and every of them hereby is clearly exempted, acquitted and difcharged of and from the levy- ing, collecting and receiving within their and each of their proper and respective Diocefes, the faid perpe- tual yearly Tenths from thenceforth accruing, of all Dignities, Offices, Benefices and Promotions Spiri- tual, and of and from being chargeable with, and accountable for the Receipt and Collection of the fame, by force or reafon of any of the faid Statutes; the faid Statute of KXng Henry the Eighth, or any other Statute to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithftanding.
