- LXIX. And whereas a great Number of Bills, commonly called Exchequer-bills, were made forth
' and iffued at the Receipt of the Exchequer by virtue of former Acts of Parliament in that Behalf, and ' the far greateft Part of the faid Bills fo made forth have fince been difcharged and cancelled at the
- faid Receipt, purfuant to the fame or other Acts of Parliament made for that Purpofe, and particularly
' Provifion was made by an Act of the fifth Year of his Majefty's Reign for applying the Sum of five ' hundred and twent thoufand Pounds therein mentioned towards difcharging fuch Bills, out of the faid '■ Surpluffes, ExcefTes and Overplus Monies, commonly called the Sinking Fund, Part of which Sum of
- five hundred and twenty thoufand Pounds hath accordingly been applied, and the Refidue thereof, as it
' fhall come into the Exchequer, will be applicable thereunto ; and after the Application thereof the prin- ' cipal Monies to remain due upon fuch of the faid Bills as will then be in or out of the Exchequer uncan- ' celled and undifcharged, will, by Eftimation, amount unto eight hundred ninety-fix thoufand fix hun-
- dred fixty-two Pounds ten Shillings, or thereabouts, befides Intereft on them, or fome of them :' Now
it is hereby enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the faid Commiffioners of the Treafury, or any three CIa " fefor " 1,in E or more of them, or the High Treafurer for the Time being fhall, by publick Notice in Writing to be „ ^ e f ™ [e ?',, affixed upon the Royal Exchange in London, and publifhed in the London Gazette, prefix a certain Day by remaining U n. or before which all the faid Refiduary Bills fo eftimated to amount to eight hundred ninety-fix thoufand cancelled, fix hundred fixty-two Pounds ten Shillings, or thereabouts, fhall be brought in and delivered to fuch amounting to Perfon or Perfons as the faid Commiffioners of the Treafury, or any three or more of them, or the High s 9 6 » 66zl - los « Treafurer for the Time being fhall appoint to receive the fame, at or near the faid Exchequer, to be changed for new Bills, as is herein after directed; and that all fuch of the faid Refiduary Bills Handing out, as fhall not be brought in upon fuch Notice to be exchanged for new Bills as aforefaid, within the Time or Times thereby to be fignified, fhall lofe their Currency, and no Intereft fhall grow due thereupon after the Day to be prefixed as aforefaid. LXX. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the faid Commiffioners of the Trea- claufe for ma- fury, or any three or more of them, or the High Treafurer for the Time being, fhall caufe new Bills to {j!"S forth new be prepared and made at the faid Receipt of the Exchequer, in fuch Method and Form as they fhall think ceedhie'the-Taine mofl convenient, for any Sum or Sums of Money whereof the Principal fhall not exceed the faid Sum of Sum, in hep eight hundred ninety-fix thoufand fix hundred fixty-two Pounds ten Shillings, adding thereunto the In- thereof, tereft-montes which fhall appear to be due thereupon ; which new Bills fhall be made forth to bear an In- tereft not exceeding the Rate of two Pence per Centum per Diem ; and the faid Commiffioners of the Trea- fury, or any three or more of them, or High Treafurer for the Time being, fhall caufe the faid Refiduarv Bills to be cancelled and difcharged, and, as faft as the faid Refiduary Bills fhall be brought in, cancelled and difcharged, fhall caufe new fJills in lieu thereof to be delivered to the refpective Bearers of the faid ,, , Refiduary Bills, fo that for every principal Sum contained in any of the faid Refiduary Bills fo cancelled and difcharged, a new Bill (of the new Bills above-mentioned J containing the like principal Sum fhall be delivered to the faid Bearers refpedtively ; and that fuch new Bills which fhall be fo delivered to any Teller or Tellers of the Exchequer, as the Bearers of any the faid Refiduary Bills, fhall (infteado'f fuch Refiduary Bills fo brought in and cancelled) be placed in their refpective Offices as fo much Cafh. LXXI.
