H E R E A S Tljomas Bambridge, Efquire, is by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of Great Britain, bearing Date the thirtieth Day of September in the fecond Year of the Reign of his prefent Majefty, appointed Warden or Keeper of the Fleet, and of the Cuftody of the Prifon and Gaol of the Fleet, and of ' the Prifoners committed or to be committed to the faid Prifon and Gaol of the Fleet, and Keeper of
- his Majefty's old and new Palaces of Wejlminjler, during the Term of his natural Life, unlefs he furrenders
' or forfeits, and the Reverfion thereof to Dowga'l Cuthbert, Efquire, for the Term of his Majefty's Life,
- upon the fame Conditions ; and whereas his Majefty has been pleafed to order his Attorney General to pro-
' fecute at Law the faid Thomas Bambridge for wilfully permitting feveral Debtors, as well to his Majefty as ' todiverfe of his Subjects, to efcape, and for being guilty of the mod notorious Breaches of his Truft and ' the higheft Crimes and Mifdeameanors in the Execution of his faid Office, and having arbitrarily and unlaw- ' fully loaded with Irons, put into Dungeons and deftroyed Prifoners for Debt put under his Charge, in Vio- ' lation and Contempt of the Laws of this Kingdom; as alfo to profecute James Barnes, William Pindar, ' John Everett and Thomas King, for being Agents and Accomplices with the faid Thomas Bambridge in the « Commiffion of his faid Crimes: And whereas there is great Danger of Efcapes and of the Continuance of < the Cruelties and Barbarities before-mentioned, in cafe the faid Thomas Bambridge, or any of his Agents, ' fhould continue to execute the faid Offices, which may tend as well to the Prejudice of his Majefty, as his « Subjects ; for the preventing of which it is neceffary to difable the faid Thomas Bambridge to hold or exe- « cute the faid Office of Warden of the Prifon of the Fleet, or to have or exercife any Authority relating « thereto :' Be it therefore enacted, &c. " After 14 June 1729, T. B. difabled to hold the Wardenfhip of the Fleet : His Majefty to appoint another " Warden. T. B. to deliver to the Judges of the Common Pleas a Lift of his Prifoners on Oath, and alfo " all Securities ; which are vefted in the new Warden, to whom he is to transfer all Prifoners in his Cuftody. " T. B. not delivering fuch Lift, &c. guilty of Felony. New Warden not to fell or farm out any Office. " James Barnes, &c. difabled from any Office in the Fleet. T. B. made incapable of exercifing any Office. " This Act not to prevent any Profecution againft T B. Sec." CAP. XXXIII. An Act for obviating any Doubts or Difficulties that may arife from an Act palled in the firft Year of his prefent Majefty, intituled, An A£i to explain and amend an Ac! faffed in the thirteenth Year of his late Ma- jejiys Reign, intituled, An Act for Sale of fuch of the forfeited Eftates in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland, as remain unfold, and are vefted in the Crown, and for determining fuch Claims on the faid Eftates, as having been duly entred remain undetermined.
