King of Spain in the Convention between Great Britain and Spain, bearing Date at the Par do the dadon5 - fourteenth Day of January one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-nine new Stile, to be applied, together with the further Sum of ninety-five thoufand Pounds, to be advanced by the Crown of Spain, towards making Satisfaction to his Majefty's injured Subjects, for the Damages they have fuftained by the Depredations of the Spaniards ; and any Sum or Sums of Money, not exceeding c.ooo!. Satif- rive thoufand Pounds, for making Satisfaction to Solomon Merrit of London, Merchant, for himfelf [ aai ""m S >i and others late Owners of the Ship Santa Ifabella, a Spanijb Man of War, taken by his late Ma- om(j111 jetty's Fleet near Sicily, in the Year one thoufand kven hundred and eighteen, and fold to them ; which Ship was afterwards delivered up to the Spaniards, purfuant to a Treaty between the two Crowns. XV. And be it enacted, That the faid Aids or Supplies provided as aforefaid (hall not be iffued and The Aids no*, applied to any Ufe, Intent or Purpofe whatfoever, other than the Ufes and Purpofes before mentioned, to be mifap- or for the feveral Deficiencies or other Payments directed to be fatisfied thereout, by any particular plkd ' Claufe or Claufes for that Purpofe contained in any other Act or Acts of this prefent Sellion of Par- liament. XVI. And as to the faid Sum of thirty-nine thoufand one hundred twenty-four Pounds nineteen Shillings Rules for the and two Pence, by this Act appropriated on Account of Half-pay as aforefaid ; it is hereby enacted and $j%$}~f° a declared by the Authority aforefaid, That the Rules herein after prefcribed (hall be duly obferved in $ ee father the Application thereof; that is to fay, That no Perfon lhall have or receive any Part of the feme, 13 Geo. z. c. 13. who was a Minor, and under the Age of fixteen Years, at the Time when the Regiment, Troop or Company, in which he ferved, was reduced; That no Perfon (hall have or receive any Part of the fame, except fuch Perfons who did actual Service in fome Regiment, Troop or Company ; that no Perfon having any other Place or Imployment of Profit, Civil or Military, under his Majefty, (hall have or receive any Part of the faid Half-pay ; that no Chaplain of any Gariibn or Regiment, who has any Eccleliaftical Benefice in Great Britain or Ireland, (hall have or receive any of the faid Half-pay ; that no Perfon (hall have or receive any Part of the fame, who hath refigned his Commiffion, and has had no Commillion fince ; that no Part of the fame (hall be allowed to any Perfon by virtue of any War- rant or Appointment, except to fuch Perfons who would have been otherwife intitled to the fame as reduced Officers ; and that no Part of the fame (hall be allowed to any of the Officers of the five Regi- ments of Dragoons, and eight Regiments of Foot lately difbanded in Ireland, except to fuch as were lately taken off the Eftablifhment of Half-pay in Great Britain. ' XVII. And whereas by an Act of Parliament made in the eleventh Year of his Majefty's Reign, XI ceo.z. c.27,
- intituled, An Acl for granting to his Majefty the Sum of two millions for the Service of the Tear one thou-
' fond feven hundred and thirty-eight; and for paying to the Governor and Company of the Batik of Eng- 'land one million for redeeming an Annuity of forty thoufand Pounds payable to them, and for the further
- appropriating the Supplies granted in this Sejfion of Parliament .; feveral Supplies which had been granted
' to his Majefty, as is therein mentioned', were appropriated to feveral Ufes and Purpofes therein ex- ' preffed, amongft which, any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding forty-one thoufand nine hun- ' dred fifty-nine Pounds fifteen Shillings and ten Pence, was appropriated to be paid to the reduced 'Officers of his Majefty's Land Forces and Marines, fiibject neverthelefs to fuch Rules to be obferved ' in the Application of the faid Half-pay, as in and by the aforefaid Act were prefcribed in that Behalf :' Now it is hereby provided, enacted and declared by the Authority aforefaid, That fo much of the faid The overplus Sum of forty-one thoufand nine hundred and fifty-nine Pounds fifteen Shillings and ten Pence, as is or of laft Year's (hall be more than fufficient to fatisfy the faid reduced Officers, according to the faid Rules by the faid Act Half-pay how prefcribed to be obferved in the Application thereof, or any Part of fuch Overplus, (hall or may be t0 be a PP ll<id> difpofed of to fuch Officers who are maimed or loft their Limbs in the late Wars, or fuch others as by reafon of their long Service or otherwife his Majefty (hall judge to be proper Objects of Cha- rity, or* to the Widows or Children of fuch Officers, according to fuch Warrant or Warrants under his Majefty's Royal Sign Manual, as (hall be figned in that Behalf; anything in this Act, of the (aid former Act to the contrary notwithstanding.
