- of and concerning the fame Premifics, in and by the iaid two Indentures of Releafe, and the faid Inden-

- nalty, which were only to be at the Rate of fifteen Pounds per Centum per Annum: And whereas by In-
- denture inroUed in the faid Court oi Chancery, bearing Date the twenty-third Day of July one thoufand
' feven hundred and forty-two, and made between the faid Wardens and Commonalty of the one Part, and
- the Truftees nr.med and appointed in and by the faid Indenture of the fecond of yune one thoufand feven
' hundred and forty-one, of the other Part; Liberty was given to the faid Wardens and Commonalty for ' the future, to grant fuch Annuities at the Rate of twenty Pounds per Centum per Annurn : A^nd v/hereas
- the prefent clear Income of the faid Eftates does not exceed four thoufand one hundred and fifty Pounds a
' Year, and the y nuities now due and payable by the faid Wardens and Commonalty to the feveral and ' refpeftive Annuitants amount unto feven thoufand five hundred Pounds a Year, and upwards ; and the Ar- ' rears of fuch Annuities, due and owing to the faid Annuitants a.t Michaelmas one thoufand feven hundred ' and forty-feven, amounted to the Sum of nine thoufand fix hundred twenty-eight Pounds two Shillings ' and fix Pence; fo that the Eftates fettled for the Payment of fuch Annuities are not fufficient for that ' Purpofe, and many of the faid Annuitants nov/ are in a very diftreffed Condition : And whereas feveral ' Perfons have heretofore given or lef: unto the faid Wardens and Commonalty feveral Eftates and Sums of ' Money for certain charitable Ufes : And whereas the Royal Exchange of the City of London was, by the
- dreadful Fire in the Year one thoufand fix hundred and fixty-fix, confumed ; and the faid Wardens and
- Commonalty, together with the City of Z,577(r/c«, were at a very great Expence in rebuilding the fame;
' by which Means, and by other publick Lofl^s and Misfortunes, the faid Wardens and Commonalty have
- long laboured under great Difficulties, and have taken up and borrowed great Sums of Money upon
- Bonds, and are otherwife become indebted in a much greater Sum than they are able to pay and fatisfy:
- And whereas by an A£t of this Seffion of Parliament, intituled. An A£i for the further Relief of the Or-
- phans and other Creditors of the City a/" London, and for other Purpofes therein ?nentio?ied ; it is enacted,
- That the Impofition of fix Pence per Chaldron on every Chaldron of Coals or Culm, and of fix Pence per
- Ton on every Ton of Coals ufually fold by the Ton, which was by an A.ft of the fifth and fixth Years
- of the Reign of the late King William and Queen Mary, intituled. An A£l for the Relief of the Or-
- phans and other Creditors of the City of London, granted to the Mayor and Commonalty, and Citizens of
- the City of London, on all Sorts of Coals or Culm, which fhould be imported into the Port of the City
- of London, from and after the twenty-ninth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven
- hundred, for and during the Term of fifty Years, fhall be continued and paid for and during the Term of
- thirty -five Years, from the Expiration of the faid Term of fifty Years, and no longer ; and that the Mo-
- nies arifing thereby fhall be paid into the Receipt of the Chamber of the City of London, and appropriated
- to the Purpofes therein after declared ; that is to fay, the yearly Sum of three thoufand Pounds for and
' during the faid Term of thirty-five Years, fhall be paid by the Chamberlain of the faid City for the time
- being, out of the Produce of the faid Impofition, to the Wardens and Commonalty of the Myftery of
- Mercers of the City of London, by half-yearly Payments ; that is to fay, on the twenty-fifth Day of
- March and the twenty-ninth Day of September, or within fourteen Days after the fame fhall refpe£lively
- become due, to be applied by the faid Company of Mercers tov/ards the Payment of Annuities and other
' Debts, in fuch Manner as by an A6t of Parliament is or fhall be directed ;' May it therefore pleafe your moft Excellent Majefty that it may be enabled, ^c. " A general ALCCount to be made out of the Sums that fhall be due to the Annuitants on 29 Sept. 1750. to " be entered in a Book, and figned by the Wardens. Clerk to deliver to Annuitants requefting it a Note " of the Sum due. The Debt deemed to be a Principal Sum, and to carry 3/. per Cent. Intereft. The yearly •' Sum of 3000/. payable by the Chamber of ZoW«??, fhall be applied towards Payment of the Annuities, " and the Surplus to the Intereft of the Arrears, dsV. And afterwards to the other Creditors. Annual " Meeting of the Annuitants, fhall chufe nine Auditors of the Accounts.
