And be it further enafled by the Authority aforefaid, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for his W.rrant any one Juftice of the Peace of any County, Ridijig, Divifion, City, Liberty, Town or Place, and he is «pon Cora- hereby required, -upon Complaint to him made upon Oath, or (if the Perfon complaining be of the People plaint oi any ^.^lled ^uekers) folemn Affirmation of any OfFence committed againfi: this Acl within the fame County, this^Aa. ^ Riding, Divifion, City, Liberty, Town or Place, to ifllie his Warrant for apprehending and bringing be- fore him, or before any other Julrice or Juftices of the Peace of the fame County, Riding, Divifion, Citj-, Liberty, Town or Place, the Perfon or Perfons charged with fuch OfFence ; and the Juftice or Juftices, be- fore whom fuch Perfon or Perfons fliall be brought, is and are hereby authorized and required to hear and determine the Matter of every fuch Complaint, and to proceed to Conviftion and Judgment thereupon. Journeymen net IX. And, for the better regulating of the Journeymen, and other Perfons employed as Manufacturers or completing their Workers in the Manufacture of Felts or Hats, and in the Woollen, Linnen, Fuftian, Cotton, Iron, Mo- Work, &c. j^jjjj.^ Furr, Hemp, Flax, or Silk Manufactures, or any Manufactures made up of Wooll, Furr, Hemp, Flax, Linnen, Cotton, Mohair, or Silk, or any of the faid Materials mixed one with another. Be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That if any Perfon who, at any Time after the faid twenty-fourth Day of jfune one thoufand feven hundred and forty-nine, fhall be hired, retained or employed to prepare or work up any of the Manufactures herein before-mentioned for any one Mafler, fhall negleCt or refufe the Per- formance thereof, by procuring or permitting himfelf or herfelf to be fubfequently retained or employed by any otherMafter or Perfon whatfoever, before he or flie fhall have completed the Work which he or Ihe wasfirftand originally fo hired, retained, or employed to perform, and which was firft delivered to him or her ; then, and in every fuch Cafe, the Perfon fo offending, being thereof lawfully conviCted by the Oath, or (being of the People called fakers) AfHrmation of one or more credible Witnefs or Witneffes, before one or more Juftice or Juftices of the Peace of the County, Riding, Divifion, City, Liberty, Town or Place, where the Of- to be committed, fence or Offences fliall be committed, fhall be fent to the Houfe of Correction, therC to be kept to hard La- bour for any Time not exceeding one Month. Limitation of X. Provided always, and it is hereby enaCted and declared. An A£i for the further En- '^fi ^' couragewcnt of the Manufaoliire of Liiftrings and Alamodes zvithin this Realm, and for the better preventing the ' ^ ' Impo?-tation of the fame ; for the Punijhment of Silk JVinders, Doublers, and other Perfons, conviSied of ptirhin- ing, imhezilling, paivning, felling, or detaining, any Silk delivered them to wind, double, or zvork up, or after the fame is vjrought up, and of the Buyers, Receivers, or Perfons taking to pawn any Silk fo imbeziiled or purloiyied, but that the faid Provifions fhall remain in full Force, and the Penalties and Forfeitures to which Offenders againft the faid ACts are thereby refpeCtively fubjeCted, may be levied, recovered and infliCted in the fame ■ Manner as fuch Penalties and Forfeitures might have been levied, recovered and infliCled before the making of this Act ; any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithftanding. ^fh V° •^ "'" ^^' Provided neverthelcfs, and it is hereby further enaCted and declared. An ASl to prevent unlawful Combinations of Workmen ernployed in the TVooUcn Manufac- ' tures, and for better Payment of their Wages-, all Contracts, Covenants or Agreements, and .all By-laws, ' Ordinances, Rules or Orders made or entered into, or hereafter to be made or entered into, by or between ' any Perfons brought up in, or profeffing, ufing or exercifing the Art and Myffery of a Wooll Comber or ' Weaver, or Journeyman Wooll Comber, or Jounieyman Weaver, in any Parifh or Place v.itliin this ' Kingdom, for regulating the faid Trade or Myltery, or for regulating or fettling the Prices of Goods, or ' for advancing their Wages, or for leffening their ufual Hours of Work, are declared to be illegal, null and ' void to all Intents and Purpofes : And it is, by the laid laft-mentioned ACt (amongft other Tnings) enaCt-
- ed. That if any Wooll Comber or Weaver, or Journeyman Wooll Comber, or Journeyman Weaver, or
- other Perfon concerned in any of the Woollen Manufactures of this Kingdom, Ihall at any Time keep
' up, continue, aCt in, make, enter into, fign, feal, or be knowini^ly concerned in any ContraCt, Cove- ' nant or Agreement, By-law, Ordinance, Rule or Order of any Club, Society or Combination, by the faid ' ACt declared to be illegal, or fhall prefum.e or attempt to put any fuch illegal Agreement, By-law, OrJi-
- nance. Rule or Order in Execution ; every Perfon o offending, being thereof lawfully conviCted in Man-
- ner prefcribed by the faid ACt, fhall at the Difcretion of the Jultices of the Peace, before wliom iuch Con-
