Stile and Title of the Court. _ .., whoare to be Commiffioners for the Purpofes herein after-mentioned and exprefled, to be appointed by fuchParifnioners of the faid feveral Parifhes in Manner following ; videlicet, fuch Parifhionersof tlie Parifh of Saint Olavein Southwark, to nominate and affign twelve of the faid Perfons ; the Parifh of Saint John in South- wark other twelve ; the Parifh of Saint George in Southwark other twelve ; the Parifh of Saint Thomas in Southwark fix ; the faid Parifh of Saint Saviour eighteen ; the faid Parifli oi Newington twelve ; the faid Pa- rifh of Saint Mary Magdalen Bermondfey eighteen ; the faid Parifh of Chrijl Church fix; the faid Parifh of Lias to be made Lamheth eighteen ; and the faid Parifh of Rotherhithe eighteen : And the Churchwardens of each refpective Parifh for the time being, or one of them, fhall, within two Days next after fuch Nomination, caufe two Lifts to be made out, of the feveral Perfons fo refpetStively nominated and appointed as aforefaid ; and fhall caufe one of the Lifts, or a true Copy thereof, to be fixed or ftuck up on the Church Door of their refpec- tive Parifh ; and fhall deliver, or caufe to be delivered, the other to the Chief Bailiff of the faid Town and Borough of Southwark, or his Deputy, who fhall forthwith caufe a Copy of fuch Lifts to be made, and ftuck up in fome convenient Part of the Town Hall of the faid Town and Borough of Southwark ; which faid Perfons, fo nominated and returned for the faid feveral Parifhes refpeftively as aforefaid, from time to time, are hereby declared, conftituted and appointed to be Commiffioners to hear and determine all fuch Matters of Debt as are herein after-mentioned ; and fuch Commiffioners are hereby conftituted a Court of Juflice, by the Name of The Court of Requejis for the Town and Borough of Southwark in the County ff/"Surry ; and the faid Commiffioners, or any three or more of them, are hereby authorized, impowcred and required Three Comm'if- to aflemble, fit and hold the faid Court twice in every Week, videlicet, on every Tuefday and Friday, in the fionets to fit Coui t Houfe of the faid Town and Borough, fituate and being at Saint Margaret's Hill, within the faid twice a Week, Xown and Borough, or in fome convenient Part thereof, or fome other Place near or thereunto adjoining, fo ^'^' as not to impede or interrupt the Bufinefs, at any Time hereafter to be done by or before his Majelty's Jufti- ces of AlTize, Juftices of Oyer and Terminer, Juftices of Gaol Delivery, or Juftices of the F'eace, or the Pov.er of Com- Courts Leet, or Courts of Sewers, ufually done, held or kept in the faid Court Houfe; and the faid ir;iffione:s. Commiffioners, fo to be affigned and appointed for the time being, or any three or more of them, ftiall have Power and Authority, by virtue of this Adt, to give Judgment and Decree, and to award Execution there- upon, with Cofts, again'ft the Bodies, or againft the Goods and Chatties of all and every the Perfon or Perfons againft whom they fhall give any Judgment or Decree, as to them fhall feem juft in Law or Equity. ci,ief Bailiff to If. III. Provided always. That nothing herein before contained fhall extend, or be conftrued to extend, to exclude or debar any of the Perfons who fhall be nominated and returned for Commiflioners as aforefaid ii (although they be not in Rotation) from fitting in the faid Court ; but that all fuch Commiffioners fhall and may, as often as they fhall refpetffively think fit, fit aitd give Judgment therein ; any thing herein before ccn.ained to the contrary thereof notwithftanding. IV. And be it enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the twenty-ninth Day of Scf- tember one thoufand feven hundred and forty-nine, it fliall and may be lawful to and for every Refiant and Inhabitant of the faid Town and Borough of Southivark, and tor all the Refiants and Inhabitants within the faid feveral Parifhes of Saint Saviour, Saint Mary at Neifingfcn, Saint Alary AJagdalai Bermo>:di',-, Clriji Church, late Fan of Saint Saviours, Saint Alary Lawl'cth, anA Saint Alary Tit Rctberhithe, in the 'County of Smry, and to and for all and every Perfon and Perfons renting or keeping any Shop, Shed, Stall or Stand, or feeking a Livelihood within the faid Town and Borough, or within any of the Pailihes, Limits or Pre- cinds aforefaid, who now have, or hereafter fhall have any Debt or Debts owing unto him, her or them, CommiOioncis imiowered to iit, tho' not in Rotation, Method of Pro. fcedint-'S, and Recovery of Pci'ts, net ex- ceeding 40 s. not exceeding the Sum of forty Shillings, by any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, inhabiting, or feeking a Livelihood, within the faid Town and Borough, or within any of the Pariflies, Limits or Precindts aforefaid, as aforefaid, to caufe fuch Debtor or Debtors, fo inhabiting, feeking a Livelihood, as aforefaid, to be warned or fummoned by the Chief Bailiff" of the faid Town and Borough for the time being, or his Deputy Officer or Officers (who are hereby appointed, authorized and required to execute all Warrants Precepts and Procefs of the faid Court of Requcfts) by "^Vriting Kft at the Dwelling- houfe, or Place of Abode, Shop, Shed, Stall, Stand, or any other Place of Dealing of fuch Debtor or Debtors, or by any other reafonable Warning or Notice, to appear before the Commiffioners of the faid Court, to be held at or in the Place aforefaid ) and that the faid ComiuifSoners, or any three or more of them, fhall, after fuch Summons 3 as ■m
