An Atl for the better fecuring and regulating the Duties upon Salt, it is enafted. That ' where any Salt or Rock Salt (the Duties whereof fliall have been paid, or fecured to be paid, according ' to the Direftion of the former Laws relating to the faid Duties on Salt) fhall be {hipped or laid on Board ' any Ship or Veflel in any Port, River or Place within the Kingdom of England, Dominion of IKJes, or ' Town of Eenvick upon Tweed, in order to be exported to Parts beyond the Seas, or be carried Coaft- ' wife; and the faid Salt or Rock Salt fo Ihipped or laid on Board, fnall Isappen to perifli by the finking of ' the Ship or Veflel on which the fame fhall be ftiipped or laid on Board, before the faid Ship or Veflel fhall ' go out of fuch Port or Place, and before the Exporter of fuch Salt (hail be intitled to a Drawback or ' Allowance of the Duties thereof; that then and in fuch Cafe the Exporter or Proprietor of the faid Salt or ' Rock Salt fo perifhed {hall, upon Pioof made before the Jufticcs of the Peace at the next General Quar- . ' ter-Seffions of the Peace to be held for the County, City, Riding, Divifion or Place, next to the Place ' whore the faid Salt or Rock S-alt {hall fo perifli, of the Lofs of the Salt or Rock Salt fo ftiipped, receive ' from the faid Seffions a Certificate that fuch Proof was hiade before them; and upon producing the faid ' Certificate to any of her Majefty's Colleftors or Officers appointed to collect the faid Duties on Salt, the ' faid Colleftors and Officers are thereby required to let the faid Exporter or Proprietor buy the like Quan- ' tity of Salt or Rock Salt as is exprefled in the faid Certificate to be fo perifhed, without paying to her ' Majefty any Duty of Escife for the fame, in the fame manner as if fuch Salt or Rock Salt had fo perifhed, ' going Coaftwife from one Port of Englatul to another: And y/hereas by an Aft made in the eighth YearS Geo, i. c, j_.
