And wliereas within the City of Chejler the ufual and accuftomed Time of the annual Meeting and Afenibly of the Citizens of the faid City, for the tledion of the Mayor, Shcrifi's, Trcafiirers, Coroners and Leaveloo Iters of the fame City, hath been on the Friday next after the FeaftDay of Saint £)<r«;;/j yearly : And whereas by an A£t of Parliament made in the twenty-fourth Year of the Reign of his prefent Majcfty, (intituled, Jn ASi for regulating the Commencement of the Tem and for corre£ling the Calendar noiv in Vfe) it was amongft oth r Things enadted. That all Meetings and.Airemblies of any Bodies Politick or Corporate, either for the Ekdion of any OfHcers or Members thereof, or for any fuch Officers entering upon the Execution of their refpeftive Offices, or for any other Purpofe whatlbcvcr, which by any Law, Statute, Charter, Cuftom orUfage within this Kingdom were to be holden and kept on any fixed or certain Day of any Month, fliould from and after the lecond Day of September one thoufand fcven hundred and fifty- two, be holden or kept upon, or according to the fame relpective Nominal Days and Times whereon or according to which the fame were at the 1 imc of making the faid A£t to be holden : And whereas by the liiid recited hSt it was further enacted. That the holding and keeping of all Markets, Fairs and Marts, w hether for the Sale of Goods or Cattle, or for the hiring of Servants, or for any other Purpofe, which are either fixed to certain Nominal Days of the Month, or depending upon the Beginning or any certain Dav of any Month, and all Cou^rts incident or belonging to, or ufually holden or kept with any fuch Fairs or Marts fixed to fuch certain 1 imes as aforefaid, fhouid not, from the faid fecond Day of Septe7riber one dioufand leven hundred and fifty-two, be continued upon or according to the Nominal Days of the Month, or th-- Time of the Beginning of any Month, to be computed according to the new Calendar m the (aid recited AtSl mentioned, but that from and after the faid fecond Day of Septe/nkr a.l fuch Markets, Fairs and Marts as aforefaid, and i;ll Courts incident or belonging thereto, fliould be holden or kept upon, or according to the fame Natural Days, upon or according to which the fame fhouid have been fo kept or holden, in cafe the faid recited Adt had not been made; that is to fay, eleven Days later than the fame would have happened, according to the Nominal Days of the faid new Supputation of Time, by which tlie Commencement of each Monch,^ and the Nominal Days thereof, are anticipated or brought forward, by the Sp: ce of eleven Days ; any Thing in the faid recited A6t contained to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithftanding : And whereas before the making of the faid recited A£l, one of the annual Fairs within the faid City, commonly called Michaehnas I'air, was begun to be holden and kept yearly, on the twenty-ninth Day of Septemhir, and continued for feveral Days afterwards, and purfuant to the Directions of the faid recited Act, the fame Fair will hereafter begin to be holden and kept on the tenth Day of OSiohcr yearly, which is the Day next after the Feaft of Saint Z)/««/f, by which means the Friday next after the faid Feail will always hereafter happen, during the Time of holding and keeping the faid Fair; and there ore it would be very inconvenient to the Citizens of the faid City of Chefter^ if the annual Meeting and Affembly of the faid Citizens for the Eledfioii of the Mayor, and the aforefaid other annual Officers of the faid City, ihould continue to be holden on the Friday next after the faid Feaft of Saint Dennis :' For preventing v.hereof, be it enaded by the Authority aforefaid, That the annual Meeting and Aflembly of the faid Citizens for the Election of the Mayor and other the aforefaid annual Officers of the faid City of Cbejhr, Ihall not at any Time hereafter be holden on the Fridny next after the faid Feafl of Saint Dennis, but the lame, and all annual Meetings and Aifemblies for that Purpofe, (hall at all Times hereafter be holdsn in the ufual and accuftomed Manner on the Friday next after the twentieth Day of Ocio- bcr in every Year, and not before; any I'hing in the faid recited A6t of Parliament, or any Law, Statute, Charter, Cultom or Ufage to the contrary thereof in any wife nctwithllanding. CAP XXXV. An Adt for confirming an Agreement entered into between the Company of Proprietors of < the Undertaking for recovering and preferving the Navigation of the River Dee, and Sir jokii Glynne Bar^^net, Lord of the Manor of Hawardsn, and feveral Freeholders and Occu- piers of Land within the faid Manor; and for explaining and amending three feveral Arts of Parliament of the fixih, fourteenth and feventeenth Years of his prefent Majelty's Reitjn, for recovering and prtferving the Navigation of the faid River Dee. PR. HE RE AS by an Aft of Parliament made in the fixth Year of his prefent Majefty's Reign, inti- tuled, An Ail to mover and prfUrve ih^' Naiiigatif:n of the River Dee in the County Piit<it:ne ii/'Chefter, reciting th.t the Sands, Soil and Ground, not being Grafs, commonly called The White Sands, from the City of Chcjler to the Sea, and lying betneen the County of Che'lcr on tht; North Side, and thr County of Flint on the South Side, were of great B.eadih in moft Places ; ; nd that the faid River not bcii-g navigable, was chiefly owing to the Bre dth of the faid Sands, and to the Ihifting of the Channel from one Side thereof to the other, as the Winds and Tides varied -, and that the faid Sand, Soil and Ground, commonly called The F/hiu Sands, were not, nor was likely to be of any Advant.ge or Benefit to any 'erfon whatfo- ever, inkls the laid River was hounded in and made navigable by Sea VValls, Banks and Fences, which would retjuire a very great Expence, as well to ereft as to maintain and repair from Time to Time, as Occafion Ihould require; but that yet ncverthelefs, if the faid Sands, Soil or Ground, coirmonly called The li hite Sands, were recovered from the Sea by Sea'vValls, Banks and Fences as aforefaid, and the Channel thereby confined to oiie certain Courfe, it would not only cfteftually make the laid Rier navi- gable, but that veiling the faid IVhite Sands in the Undertakers would bca conftderable Encouragement to ■ • tkc 3.
