We apprehend Life in Science, only as we live above corporeal sense, and correct it. Our proportionate admission of the claims of Good or evil determines the harmony of our existence, — our health, our longevity, and our Christianity.
We cannot serve two masters, nor reach Divine Science through material sense. Drugs and hygiene cannot The two masters. successfully usurp the place and power of the source of all health and perfection. If man is constituted both good and evil, he must end in evil. An error in the premises must appear in the conclusion. To avail yourself of the power of Spirit, you must renounce all erroneous inventions.
The “flesh lusteth against the Spirit.” They can no more unite in action, than good can coincide with evil. Half-way success. It is not wise to take a halting and half-way position, or to expect to work equally with Truth and error. There is but one way — namely, God and His idea — which leads to spiritual Life. The Scientific government of the body must be attained through Mind. It is impossible to gain control over it in any other way. On this fundamental point timid conservatism is absolutely inadmissible. Only through radical reliance on Truth can healing power be realized.
Substituting good words for a good life, fair seeming for straightforward character, is a poor shift for the weak and worldly, who think the standard of Christian Science too high for them.
