Tomb of a Mahomedan Lady at Booran Sahib's Durgah, near Hyderabad.
This is an extremely beautiful example of the elegance displayed in the erection of tombs in India to illustrious persons. That here depicted was raised in honour of the mother of Na- waub Shumsh-ool-oomra, of Hyderabad, who is Commander-in-Chief of the Nizam's troops. The entire structure, however, represented in the view is not the lady's tomb—that portion on the left being a distinct edifice, which the Nawaub is constructing to contain his own remains.
The execution of the stucco-work, which, in arabesque and other patterns, almost equals marble, is from the designs of the Nawaub Shumsh-ool-oomra himself.
