of silk exports in the three years 1866-68 averaged 300,000,000/. francs, or 12,000,000/., nearly one-half of which went to the United Kingdom, while of woollen fabrics the average amount exported in the same period was of the value of 75,000,000 francs, or 3,000,000/., rather more than one-fourth going to the United Kingdom. Of wine, the exports rose from 234,000,000 francs, or 9,360,000/. in 1866, to 245,000,000 francs, or 9,800,000 in 1868 ; the value of the quantities shipped to the United King- dom amounting, in 1866, to 1,456,060/., in 1867 to 1,497,917/. and in 1868 to 1,875,881/.
