Emigration from the United Kingdom.

Official returns state the number of emigrants who left the United Kingdom during the fifty-five years from 1815 to the end of 1869 at 6,756,697. Of this total there went 4,276,597 to the United States, 1,356,476 to the British North American colonies, 971,358 to the Australian colonies and New Zealand, and 152,266 to other parts. The numbers include foreigners who embarked from ports in the United Kingdom.
