Preface
Having long felt the need of a book upon Swine, which would meet with the requirements of the college student and the busy farmer, I have at length been induced by my friends to attempt the work myself, and the result of this attempt is seen in the volume which is now placed before the public. In the preparation of this work, special attention has been given to present day problems, rather than to historic facts and speculations, and every effort has been made to condense the information into as small space as possible. No appology is offered for the manner in which the subject is treated, and the Public must be the sole judge as to whether the book is deserving their commendation.
I wish to gratefully acknowledge the sympathy, encouragement, and assistance which I have received from friends in this and other countries. To mention each one would be out of the question, but my gratitude for their kindness is none the less sincere.
