Clive Newcome were probably wiser in their admiration than in their censure, and not unhappy nor unenviable in their praise of 'this young Mr Tennyson of Cambridge.' In spite of the low spirits of Colonel Newcome, these words have a hopeful and cheerful sound about them, in this place especially, and with them I will make an end.
