The "Ark" Alphabet.
K stands for the Kitten, whose gambols and play
Amused Noah's wife during many a day.
L stands for the Lion—of forests the king:
To Noah he's as tame as a lambkin in Spring.
M stands for the Monkey, who chatters and grins
At earliest daybreak his mischief begins.
N stands for the Nightingale—sweet is her song,
She grieves for the woods she will not see so long.
O stands for the Ox—who's a good friend to man;
We can't do without him, try all that we can.
P stands for the Pig, who grunts loud in his sty;
The sow and the little pigs all sleeping by.
Q stands for the Quagga—I think it might pass
For a very respectable partly-streaked ass.
R stands for the Raven, who boldly defies
The monkey, and at him in great anger flies.
