Qloucester. He served in Ireland, where he iu aaid to have first gone as a Page ; wai knigkUd in Dublin, 5 Aug. 1599, by the Viceroy Enez; obtained a grant, in 1614, of the abbey of Carrickfergua, oo. Antrim, and aubeequently of the monastery of Baltinglass, co. Wicklow, and of extensive estates elsewhere in Ireland ; was P.O. p.] and L. President of Oonnaught, and was er. a ViicouiU [I.], 4 Jan. 1620/1, as aboye mentioned. He m. firstly, in or shortly after 1606, Sarah, 4th da. of Sir Henrjr Andikson, sometime [1601—1602] SherifT of London, by Elizabeth, da. of Francis Bowykr, Cit. and Orocer of London. Her burial on 8 Dea 1616, is registered both at St. Ohive'a, Jewry, London, and at St. Martin's in the fields. He m. secondly, between 9 Nov. 1627 and 28 April 1630,(^) Mary, widow of Garrett (Moork), 1st ViacooNT Moori of Droqhrda [I.], da. of Sir Henry Cou.bt, of Castle Carbery, co. Kildare, by Catherine, da. of Sir Thomas Cusaok, L. Chancellor [I.]. He was living 29 June 1643 (the date of his sou's creation as a Baron), but d. not long afterwards, before 7 Jan. 1644/6(o). Will dat. 12 May 1643, pr. 2 June 1664(d) [tie]. His widow, by whom he had no issue, d. 8 Juiieit^') and was bur, 8 July 1664, with her first husband, at Drogheda. Barony [E.] 1 and ^. D. K. Pub. Records. The title seems to have been taken from the seat of his Government (Athlone) when L. President of Oonnaught. (^) Among the sponsors for Dorothy Annesley, da. of the 1st Viscount Valentia [I.], 28 April 1680, was Mary, Viscountess Wiluiut. No nieuUou (oddly enough) is made of her in her husbsnd's will of 12 May 1648. (0) On that date (7 Jan. 1644/6) the Committee of Sequestration report that Anne [i.e., Anne St. John, 2d wife of the 2d Viscount] Viscountess Wilmot, may enjov her jointure to her own use only and not to the use of her husband. {fi His character is thus given in the will of Sir Arthur Willmott, Bart., of Weld, 00. Southon, dat. 28 Feb. and pr. 16 March 1628/9, who therein gives God " most humble thanks that hath blest our name and family with so noble a person as my Honble. nephew, Charl««, Lord Viscount Willmott, whose virtues hath [tic] added honour to our house."
