Round writes aa follows : ' This title appears to have been conferred (so far aa it was), not on John Minshull, but on the Rt Hon. Sir Riohiiid Minshnll, of Bourton, Bucks, who was knighted 11 Deo. 1626 and died 1667. Four deeds ranging from 9 Jan. to 16 Jan. 1667 were preserved among the Webster Family Papers at Battle Abbey, in which he describes himself as created by the late King Chariee, LORD MINSHULL of MinshuU in Cheshire and VISCOUNT MINSHULL OF LEMSTER in Herefordshire, (see Thorpe's Deeeriptive CaUdogue of the MunimenU of Battle Ahbeg [1836], pp. 216-6). He does not seem, however, to have been so styled (or even to have so styled himHelf) before or after. This Sir Richard married 6 Feb. 1686/6, Alice, da. of Sir Humphrev Lee of Langley, oo. Salop, Bart, but his sous seem to have been the issue of a previous wife.' Mr. Round suggests that 'aa all these deeds are connected with his son's marriage to an heiress [Miss Enyon] this pretension may have been intended to increase his matrimonial vsiue.' There is a pedigree of the fsmtl^ in Lipscomb's ' Bucke* [vol. ii, p. 590], wherein the grantee is made Richard Minshull (who d. s.p. 1678, and who was the bride- groom of Jan. 1667/8), a eon of the Sir Richard abovementioned. A suggested (but apparently more accurate) pedigree, as alao some extracts from the W^teUr FamUy Papere as to this creation are in an article by ' D. C. B.' in N. and Q., 4th S.. xi, 467 "; Une 87, /or " a. and b.," read " a. and h." 2t
