He m. 12 Nov. 1748, at Somerset H'uise chapel, Westm., Mary, da. of William Cowpib, of the Park, near Hertford, Clerk of the Pari., by Joan, da. of John Budort. He d. at Rnglelittld Oreen, near Windsor, May 1781, bnt 7 months after his elevation to the peonge, snd wss 6Mr. 17, at Merton afsd., aged 61. Will pr. Qen. and Iiieut. Col. Ist iJnigoons ; utie. to the peerage, 16 Jan. 1818; was Ci»mptroller of the First Fruits and Tenths. He m. 10 May 1804, at St. Geo., Usn. sq., Matilda, sister of Paul, let Raroit Mkthucn op Coksham, 1st da. of Paul Cobb Mbthubh, of Corshani, Wilts, by MatiNla, da. of Sir Thomas noocR, Bart. He d. s.p.m.s.(0 20 April 1831, being burnt to death (S) in bed at his house in Upper Harley street, aged 64. Will pr. June 1831. (^) "A most accftmplished lawyer and of the most extmordinsry ftower of memory " [Pofs's ** Judtfee*^], being able to sum up with the- greatest correctness a causey lasting from 9 to 10 hours, without a note. («) William, the 1st s., 6. 16 and bap. 16 June 1746; d. 20 and was bur, 28 Feb. 1746/7, all at St. Clement's Danes. (') In 1814, on his retirement, he had a life annual pension of £2,000. He appears, also, to have had by sign manual, 27 July 1794, one of £1,200 in trust for his sons, George and Thomas, and the survivor of them, his wife having one of £372 10s. (•) The stamp duty was i:2,700. (') The birth of a Sf)n, 27 July 1806, is mentioned in " CoUim*' the* apparently nowhere else. This son probably d. an infant.
