" This appears, however, to have failed in creating him EARL OF CARRICK [l.[, and be is never so described. He (/. 13 Sep. 1321, and on 2 Nov. 132S his s. and h. (as "James le Botiller") was cr. He m. secondly, 12 Feb. 1833, Lucy, 3d da. of Arthur Fuench of Iuntiold, co; Roscommon, whose grandfather, of the same name, was of French Park in that co. He d. 4 Feb. 1S38. His widow m. 10 Aug. 1842 at Dunmore East, co. Waterford, as his second wife, the Hon. Charles Harward BuTleh-Clarkf.-Sovthwell-Wandeskord of Kirklingtou, co. York, who d. 7 Nov. 1800, aged 80. She d. 13 Oct. 1884, aged 84, at Mount Juliet, Thomastown, co. Kildare. (, Wood's " Douglas," vol. i. p. 322. ( b ) i.e. Carrick-upon-Suir, where the Earls of Ormonde had large possessions. He is said to have been the lineal descendant and h. male of John Butler, 2d r. of Edmund, Lord Butler [ 1 .] on whom the Earldom of Carrick [ L] was, invalidly, conferred 1 Sep. 1315, as abovementioned.
