Having eloped 13 Dee, 1778 from her husband, she was divorced from him by Act of Pari, in May 1779, and on 9 June 1779 ?n., also at St. Geo Han. Sq., John Byron, 1st a. of Admiral the Hon. John Byron. She d. 2d Jan. 17S4, and was bur. at Hornby. Her second husband d. 10 10 April 1786, aged 63, being, by his 2nd wife, father of Lord Byron (1798-1821), the celebrated poet. X. 1784. 10. George William Frederick (Osrorxe), Lord Conyers, s. and h. by first husband, 6. 21 July 1775, by judgment of the House of Lords, 27 April 1798, was pronounced to have made out his claim to the Barony of Conyers. ( a ) From 23 March 1789 to 31 Jan. 1799 he was styled Marquis ok CARMARTHEN, becoming, on the latter date, on the death of his father, Duke ok Leeds, &e. He d. 30 July XI. 1838. 11. Fraxcis GoDOi.rffix D'Arcy (Osuorxe, after wards, 1849, D Arcy-Osborse),Dukeoe Leeds, Marquess ok Carmarthen, Earl ok Danby, Viscount Latimer, Lord Conykrs, X-c., s. and h., b. 21 May 1798. He d. s.p. 4 May 1859, when the Dukedom of Leeds, &c., devolved on his cousin and heir male, but the Barony of Conyers devolved on the heir general as under. U"3 -a II XII. 1839, 12. Sackville George (Laxe-Fox), Lord Conyers, to nephew and h., being s. and h. of Walter Sackville Lane-Fox', an 1888. officer in the Grenadier Guards, by his 1st wife, Charlotte Mary Anne Georgiana (b- 16 July 1S01 ; m. 22 June 1826), only sister of the last named Peer, which lady d. 17 Jan. 1836. He was 6. in London, 14 Sep. 1827 ; entered the army, 1854 ; Lieut. 87th Foot, 1855 .received a medal and clasp for Sebastopol ; sue. his maternal uncle, the Duke of Leeds, in the Barony of Conyers and took his seat therein 9 June 1859. He sue. his father, 18 Aug. 1874. He hi. 16 Aug. 1860, at St. Geo. Han. Sq., Mary, 1st da. of Reginald Curtkis, Capt 1st Dragoons, by Frances Mary, 1st da. of Laurence Reynolds, of Paxtou Hall, co. Huntingdon. He d. s.p.m. 21 Aug. 1"88, at St. Clare, Walmer, Kent., and was bur. at Walmer, when the Barony fell into abeyance. ( b ) His widow living 1888. Family estates. — These, in 1883, consisted of 3,460 acres in the North and West ridings of Yorkshire, worth .£2,573 a year. Principal Residence — Oran House, near Tadeaster, co. York. CONYERS. i.e. "Darcy and Conyers," Baronies (Darcy) ; these were declared to be restored by patent 1641 ; ex. 1778. See under " Conyers" Barony, cr. 1509, sub. the 4th to the 8th Peer. ( a ) The patent of 1641 (see p. 348, note "e ), under which Conyers D'Arcy took his seat, was not to be found. It is remarkable that " the Attorney Gen., to whom the consideration of the petition by the mother of the claimant w;is referred, was of opinion that since the abeyance determined [1644] there had been no sitting in Pari, which could be referred to the original [1509] title;" (sie "Cruise") ignoring, apparently, the precedency [of 1 509] allowed to Conyers Darcy, when sum. (v. p.) as Lord Conyers in 1680 ; see p. 349, note " b," circa fincm., or, perhaps, considering it as of no moment and h'able to be abated, as in the case of Clifford [1628] in 1737.
