With him he (led from London 2 Oct, 132(1, and was taken prisoner 16 Nov. at Llantrissahit tried at Hereford, and there hanged 29 Nov. 1326 (his head being sent to London, Bridge), when, having been declared a traitor by Act of Parliament, all his honourt became forfeited. His widow was imprisoned in the Tower of London till 5 Feb, (1327/8), 2 Ed. Ill, after which date she m. William (Zouche), Lord Z0DCH8 de Mortimer (so sum. 1326 to 1327). She d. 30 June 1337. He d. s.p. 8 Feb. 1348/9, when any Barony cr. by the writ of 133S became extinct. His widow m. thirdly Guy (Bryan), Lord Bryan (so sum. 1350 to 1390) who d. 17 Aug, 1390. She d. 31 May 1359. (<=). Edward Le Bespexcer, nephew and h. being s. and h. of Sir Edward Le Despencer, of Perlethorpe, Notts, by Anne, da. of Henry (Ferrers), Loud Ferrers de Groby, which Edward was next br. to the last Lord and d. 1312 (will pr, at Lincoln) leaving his said sou then aged 6. He was at the battle of Poitiers 1356. He was sum. to Pari, as a Baron (LORD LIS DESPENCER) by writs 15 Dec. (1357), 31 Ed. ULff), to 6 Oct. (1372), 46 Ed. III. In 1359, being then 23, he inherited the Castle and Manor of Hanley and other jointure lands of his uncle's widow above named. K.G. circa 1361. He nt. before 5 April 1369, Elizabeth, who at that date was aged 27, and entitled, by her father's death, to be situ jure BARONESS BURGHERSH (see that dignity). He d. 11 Nov. 1375 at Cardiff Castle, and was bur. at Tewkesbury. Will, in which he styles himself " Lord of Glamorgan and Morgannock," dat. 6 Nov. 1375, pr. at Lincoln. His widow d. Aug. 1409, and was bur. with him. Will, in which she styles herself "Elizabeth dc Burghcrsh, Dame Le Bcspentxr," dat. 4 July and pr. 10 Aug. 1409. VI. 1375, G. TnoMAs (Le Despexcer), Lord Le Despexcer, s. to and h., b. 22 Sep. 1373, and aged but 2 years at the death of his father. K.G. in or before April 1386( c ). He wiib sum. to Pari, from 1 400. 30 Nov. II, in which last year he obtained! 1 ) the reversal cf the attainder of his ancestors, Hugh the 2nd Lord, and Hugh the 3rd Lord ; whereby the Barony of the carliett tcrit by Dugdale, but in the Pari, before his execution, i-i~., 19 Ed. Top. et Oen," Vol. vi., p. 18, there occurs this passage: "Anno D'ni 1326, in vigilia S'ci Andrea; Apostoli, apud Hertfordiam [sic], Hugo iste Le Despencer secundus, Camerarius Edwardi Secundi, gum idem Bex promovcrat in Comitcm Glocestriai, jure uxoiis, Aleanorce de Clare, crudeliter sine judicio et responsione suspensus, distractus, et in quatuor partes divisus fuit."— Glover, Ph. 12, 80, p. 75 in Coll. Arm. [The MS. so quoted is nut, however, a record, nor of any valid authority.] (") There is proof in the rolls of Pari, of his sitting. (?)
