Having been declared one of the coheirs of this Barony by the Committee for Privileges, tho abeyance thereof was terminated in her favour by patent 29 Dec. 1S85, and she thereupon became sua jure BARONESS GREY DE RUTHYN. He was a supporter of the Pari, against the King and was chosen by them as Speaker of the Hou&e of Lords at Wcstm. in 1643 as also in 1615 as one of the Commissioners of the Great Seal, being 13 Feb. 1049, elected a member of the Council of State, but refusing to subscribe the engagement to qualify himself for that office.
