She was bur. 4 Jan. 1658, at Hornby, co. York. He d. 14 June 1689, in his 91st year, at Hornby, and was bur. 16th in Hornby church.( c ) nf. 1689. 2. In Prince Rupert's Horse, 1667 ; Constable of Middleham Castle, 1671 ; sum. v.p. to the House of Lords as LORD CONYERS in his Father's Barony ( d ) of Conyers [1509], by writ 1 March 1679/80, directed " Conyers D' Arcy de Conyers," but was usually styled Loud D'Ahcy and Comers, 1632-89 ; sun. to the Earldom 14 June 1689. He m. firstly Catharine, yst. da. of Francis (Fane), 1st Earl of Westmorland, by Marv, da. & h. of Sir Anthony Mildmay. She d. s.p. near London. Admou. as "of Swillington, co. York " :i Oct. 1649. He m. secondly 6 Feb. 1649/50, (Lie. fac. he 26 widower, she 22 spinster) at St. John's Chapel in the Countess of Exeter's house, St. James' Clerkeuwell, Frances, da. of Thomas (Howard), 1st Earl of Berkshire, by Elizabeth, da, and coheir of William (Cecil). 2nd Earl of Exeter. She was bur. 10 April 1670, at Hornby. He m. thirdly Frances, Dow. Countess of Sodtha.mpton, (formerly Dow. Viscountess Molyneux (f), da. of William (Seymour) 2nd Duke ok Somerset, by his second wife Frances, da. of Robert (Devereux), 2nd Earl of Essex, She d. s.p. and was bur. 5 Jan. 1680/1, i" Westminster Abbey. He »i. fourthly, 8 Jan. 1684/5, (Lie. -Vic-Gen., 10 Dec. 1684) Elizabeth, widow of Philip Warwick, 2d da., and coheir of Jchn (Frescheville,) Baron Frkscheville ok Staveley, by his first wife, Sarah, da. of Sir John Hakington. She d. s.p. 22 Feb. 1889/90. Admon. 19 Dec. 1690. The Earl d. at Aston, 13 and was bur. 18 Dec. 1692, at Hornby. Y. 1G92. 3. Robert (Darct), Earl op Holders. esse, &c. grandson and h., being s. and h. of the Hon. John Darcy, by Bridget, da. of Robert (Sutton), 1st Baron Lexington, which John (who was Imp, 5 Nov 1659, at Hornby), was s. and h. ap. of Conyers, 2d Earl of Holdernesse, by Frances, his second wife (both abovenamed), but d. 6 Jan, 16S8/9 ( c ), aged 29, six months before his father had sue. to the Earldom. He was b. in London, 21 Nov 16S1, but reg. at Hornby; was styled Loim Darcy and Conyers, 1689-90; sue. to the peerage V, Dec. 1692, taking his seat 22 Dee. 1702 ; Constable of Middle- hnm Castle, 1702: Lord Lieut, of the North Riding, 1714; P.O., 1718; President of the Board of Trade, 1718 ; Lord of the Bedchamber, 1719 (•). He m. 26 May, 1715, ( a ) The date of this creation was between the death (29 Nov.) and the burial (6 Dec. 1682) of Prince Rupert, the preceding Earl, with whom the grantee was not in the slightest degree connected. (>>) This estate, which had long been in the Rokeby family, he Bold to his wife's cousin (her cousin ex parte maternii) William Rokeby, Of. a Baronet, as "of Skiers," 29 Jan. 1660/1. The burial of " Thomas Rook'oie " at Hornby, 10 Oct. 1624, is not improbably that of the Father of Lady Conyers. Among the burials are the following ; 16SS, "The Honorble John D'arcy eldest son of Conyers, Lord D'arcy and Conyers, ami grandson to ye first Earl of Holdernesse of that family then liveing, dyed of ye sqninsey at Loudon upon ye 6th day of January, and was buried at Westminster ye Eleventh, 1689." " Conyers, Lord D'Arcy, llenill and Conyers, the first Earl of Holdernesse of yt family, dyed att Hornby Castle, in the 91st year of his age, upon ye 14th day of June, and was buried in Hornby Church ye 16th."
