He m. firstly Elizabeth, sister of John, 1st Lord Hussey de Sleford, da. of Sir William Hussev, Ch. justice of the King's Bench, by Elizabeth, da. of Thomas BbrKELSY. He j«. secondly Margaret, widow of John Dawes, Alderman of London (who d. 151 1), relict of Oliver Curteys, da. of James Fynchk. Citizen and Sherman of London. He d. s.p, 3 May 1524, "when he had greatly wasted his estate( a ) at his house in Lumberd street, London," at the sign of the George and was bur. at the Whitefriars, Fleet street. (of the half blood) and h., being s. of the 2d Earl, by his 2d wife. Ho was 6. about 1495. Hem Anne, coheir of her brother, John Blennerhasset, of Southill, Beds, da. of John B., of Frens, co. Norfolk, by his second wife, Jane, da. of Sir Thomas Tvndall, co. Norfolk. He d. 21 Sep. 1562, at his house called Grayc Ifassetta in the Barbie in, and was bur. the 30th at St. Giles, Cripplegate. M.I.(d) Will dat 3 Dec. 1581, pr. 6 Oct. 1862, and 28 Sep. 1574. The will of his widow, who was of Blunham, Beds, dat. 6 March 150 1 5, pr. 26 May 1565.(°) [Hexry Grey, s. ami h. ap., who, if his father had assumed the Earldom, would have been styled Lord Grey dp Ruthtn, b. about 1520, m. Margaret, da. of John St. John, of Bletso, Beds. He d. v.p. 1545. (a) Brooke, followed by Viuccut. To this Dugdale adds the words " by gaming," while more modern authorities speak of him as " an inveterate gamester," &c. His father in his will speaks of him as fearing he " will not thrive but will be a waster." (•>) See an article by J. C. She was foundress of alms- houses, now at Islington, for the widows of poor Clothworkers. (o) Dugdale. ( d ) He is called therein " Sir Henry Grey, Knight, sou and heir to George, Lord Grey of Ruthen and Earl of Kent," which description is somewhat misleading as ha was but a second sou of Earl George, tlio' next brother and heir to Earl Richard. It is mentioned as " A fair tomb in the south isle of the Quire." (•) In her will she msntions " My cosen Reynold Grey " [the de jure Earl] and " my cosens Henry and Charles Grey, sons of my son Henry Grey," thus using the word " cousin " (often used for nephew or niece) for " grandchild."
