Her admon. as " Dame Jaue Gorges " is dated 11 July 1665. (°) He is erroneously called James " in the mar. lie. His will, however, as " Sir John" is dat. 22 Feb. and pr. 21 March 1627/8, by Jaue, his widow. In it he mentions his da., Dorothy, then under IS, and his eldest son, James, who, in his will, as Earl of Newburgh [S.], dat. 1 Dee. 1670, and pr. 31 Aug. 1671, mentions his sister, Dorothy, Lady Stanhope. (0 In Sir Joseph Williamson's " Lincolnshire Families, temp. Charles II.," it is mentioned that he bought " Nokton in Kesteven on y° side of y° Heath" for £'12,000 ; also that he is " not like to have issue and the Lady hath wrought him settle y e estate on her and likely on Newbourgh afterwards," i.e., the Earl of Newburgh [S.], her nephew.
