Charles Stourton, (.'apt. nf the Guard, temp. Jac. It, by Katharine, da. of Richard Framiton, of Moreton, co. Dorset, which Charles (who d. at Liege, 10 Sep. 1739, in his 70th year) was br. to the late Baron, being 5th son( c ) of William, the 12th Baron. Norfolk (br. to Thomas and Edward, Dukfs of Norfolk), being only child of his first wile, Winifred, da. of Thomas Stonor, of Sionor, co Oxon. She, who was 4. 31 Aug. 1736, d. at Bristol (Bath, acording to the Grid. Mag.) 15, and was bur. 19 July 1753, at Stourton, aged 26. He d. 3 Oct. ] 781, at Withani place, co. Essex, and was bar. at Witham, aged 77. Admon. 13 Oct. 1781. XVII. 1781. 17. Charles Philip (Stourton), Barox Stourton, only s. and h., b. 22 Aug. 1752. By the death of his mother's nncle, Edward (Howard), Duke ok Norfolk, 20 Sep. 1777, he became nwiSr «• heir to the Ilaroiiies of Mowbray and Si grave. This disability continued to his successors, who retained their ancient faith, till the Catholic Emancipation Act, temp. Geo. IV. ( b ) This hue old Baronial mansion was then pulled down and the present house, called Stourhead, built by Henry Hoare, whose grandson, Richard, was n: a Bart. ia 1786. ( c ) Another Thomas, his immediate senior, had d. in infancy. ( d ) This part of the Stourton estate was retained by the family till 17S5. ( e William, his immediate senior, had d. in infancy.
