(*) " Though neither Dugdale, in his Baronage, nor the pedigrees of Le Strange mention any ROGRR, [as] Baron Strange of Blackmere, it is to be observed that writs were issued to 1 Hogrra It Strange de dlackmer ' from 8 Jan. (1370/1) 44 Ed. III. to 4 Oct. (1373) 47 K.d. Ill " [tourthope]. This, as Banks observes (/or. Angl. cone), " creates a vacuum in the course of this descent, not readily to be accounted /or." It cannot be a mistake for Roger Strange de Knokin, for his name occurs immediately before this Roger. (•>) There can he little doubt that this was meant as " Lord Strange de Blackmere," tho' in that case the writ should have been directed " Kicardo Talbot de Strange de Blackmere."
