Adam Swilungton, of Swillington, in Urn West Hiding of Yorkshire, served in the Scotch wars, 1306-27 ; took part with the Earl of Lancaster againt the two Despeneers, temp. Ed. II.. and was sum. to Pari, as a Baron (LORD SW1LLINGTON) 3 Dec. (1328| 20 Ed. II. to 5 March U327/S) 2 Ed. 111., but not subsequently, neither were any of his posterity^) so that the Barony (if an hereditary one ever existed) became dormant. [') At that date he, having no male issue, settled bis Castle of Brancehohne and monor of Sutton on two of bis married daughters and their issue male. ( b ) The coheirs were bis three daughters ; (1) Constance m. firstly before 13/S, as his second wife, Peter (de Mauley), Lord tie Mauley (who (i. 19 March 13S2/3), and secondly Sir John Godard, Sheriff of co.
