He was, subsequently, Justice in Eyre beyond Trent, and Gov. of Nottingham Castle. He m. Agnes, da. of William de Ro», of HamlaltBi Me was slain by the Scots at the battle of Striveliu, 1311. His widow m. Thomas de Vehe. II. 1814. 2. John (dk Tibetot), Lord Tibetot, only e. and h. ; aged 1 vear at the death of his father in 13H. He was sum to Pari from 1 April (1385) 0 lid. III. to 20 Jan. (1365/0) 39 Ed. III. He served in the wars with Frame, Flanders, ami Scotland, ami was (1346) Gov. of Berwick Castle. He m. firstly, before 1338, Margaret (then aged 23), sister and coheir (1338) of Giles (DB Badlesjibhk), Ldiio BaDlbsjikbf, 1th ami yst. da. of Bartholomew, Loud Badlks.-ueke, by Margaret, da. of Thomas DB Clark. With her he obtained a considerable inheri- tance, including the estate of Castlecombe, co. Wilts. He m. secondly Elizabeth, widow of Sir Thomas Wanton, da. of Sir liobert Asi'all. Sir John de Tibetot, or Tiptoft, s. and b. of Sir Tain df. Tiiietot, by Agnes, sister of Sir John Wrothk, of Enfield, co. Midx. (which Pain was yst. s. of John, Loud Tiuetot abovenamed, by his second wife), was, in 1399, a retainer in the service of Hen. IV. ; obtained in 1107, on the forfeiture of Owen Gleudower. considerable estates in and near South Wales ; was made Chief Butler ; was Treasurer of the Household, 110S ; Seneschal of Aquitaiue, 1415 ; President of the Exchequer in Normandy. &c. ; Chief Steward of the Castles and Lordships in Wales. 1425, He in. firstly Vhilippa. widow of Sir Matthew DE Uournay, sister and coheir oE Sir John Talbot, of Kichard's Castle, co. Hereford, da. of Sir John TALBOT of the same. By her he had no issue. Having m. secondly about 1125, Joyce, 2d and yst. da. and coheir of Edward (Ciikrlkton), Loud Cherleto.n ( a ) Robert de Tibetot, presumably this Robert, was in the Pari, of (1278) 6 Ed. I., and also in that of (1290) IS Ed. I., but there ia no record of any writs of summons to the same. ( b ) John, the 1st 6., d. nnva. and v.p. ( c ) These, who were under the guardianship of Richard (Le Scrope), 1st Lord Scrope de llolton, L. Treasurer, were (1) Margaret, then aged 6, who inherited- Langar, CO. Notts, and m. Roger, 2d Lord Scrope de Bolton, eldest son of the said Richard, and had issue. Her representation is the same as that of the Barony of Scrope de Eolton; (2) Millicent, then aged 4, who inherited Castlecombe, co. Wilts, and IH, Stephen Le Scrope, another sun of the said Richard. She, according to " OouHhope" [1857], " is represented by Emma Pliippe, da. and sole heir of William Scrope, of Casllecomb, co. Wilts, and wife of George Julius Buncombe Poulett Thompson (who took the names and arms of Scrope by Royal licence, 21 Mar. 1S21), which Emma-Phipps, if living, is heir general of the body of the said Millicent and her husband, Stephen le Scrope" : (3) Elizabeth, then aged 2, who inherited Nettlested, co.
