The grantee had two sons older than the three aboveuamed ones, both of whom married, but Edward the 2d son (bap. 8 April 1589, at Great Berkhampstead), had died in Feb. 1603. The eldest son, Henry (bap. 9 Jan. 1587/8 as afsd.) had an only son, John Savile, and it seems probable that it was for the purpose of disinheriting one of these two that the special remainder in the peerage was made. Thomas the 3d son of the grantee had obtained his Irish titles the previous month, tit., 11 June 1628. ( b ) The others were (1) Henry Savile-Lumley, ufterwatrit Savile, sometime an officer in the Life Guards, to whom his father devised the Savile estates of Rnfford, Thornhill, & c ., on condition of his taking the name of Savile.
