[The Earldom of Atholl [S.] having (as above said) been forfeited, of Henry, ist Earl of Northumberland), who d. in Spain about 1388. She m., andly, before Mich. 1391, Sir John le Scrope (5th s. of Henry, ist Lord Scrope of Masham), whose will, dat. 18 Dec. 1405, was pr. 23 Dec. following. By him she had 2 daughters, his coheirs. She in., 3rdly, Robert de Thorley, and was living in 141 6. Her s. and h., Sir Henry Percy, " of Atholl, " d. 25 Oct. 1432, leaving 2 daughters his coheirs, (i). Elizabeth, who w., istly, Thomas Burgh, and 2ndly, Sir William Lucy, who was slain at the battle of Northampton in 1460, s.p. She d. 28 Sep. (Inq., Northumberland) or 16 Oct. (Inq., co. York) 1455 (writs of diem cl. cxt. dated 29 Sep. [s;V] 34 Hen. VI), leaving Thomas Burgh her s. and h., aged 24 and more [see Burgh], (ii) Margery, who m., istly, Henry, 6th Lord Grey of Codnor, by whom she had an only child, Henry, 7th Lord, who d. s.p. [see Grey of Codnor]. She m., 2ndly, Sir Richard Veer [yr. s. of John, 12th Earl of Oxford]. She d. 28 Sep. 1464. (2) Philippe. Having proved her age [viz., aged 15 on 21 Mar. i2,l^ll)i *^^ had livery, 6 May 1377, of her lands in Lincoln, Norfolk, and Northumberland. [Close Roll, 51 Edw. Ill, m. 2). She m., before 20 Mar. 1376/7, Sir Ralph Percy (next br. of Thomas afsd.), but this marriage must have been annulled. He d. s.p., 15 Sep. 1397, " in partibus transmarinis. " She m., 2ndly (apparently under the name of Philippe Michell, by banns publ. in the churches of West Grinstead and Coombs), as 1st wife, John Halsham, of Coombs, Sussex. She d. Tuesday [2 Nov.] the feast of All Saints [i Nov.] 1395, according to two inquisitions (i Nov. — Brass at West Grinstead), leaving John Halsham her s. and h., aged 10 and more, 11, or 11 and more. He d. s.p., before 8 Feb. 1404/5. His father «'. 16 Apr. 1415, leaving Hugh " filius et heres ipsorum Johannis Halsham et Philippe de corpoi-ibus ipsorum Johannis Halsham et Philippe legitime procreatus, " aged 24 and more. Hugh's legitimacy had been disputed, but the inquiry by the Bp. of Chichester, 6 June 1405, in pursuance of the King's writ of 8 Feb. 1404/5, found that he was legit, s. " Johannis Halsham et Philippe Atheles. " (Exch., K.R., Eccles., 7/18). This Sir Hugh d. s.p., 28 Feb. 1441/2 (Brass, ibid^, when Joan, da. of his br., Richard, was found to be his h. and aged 20 and more, and then wife of John Lewkenor, who was slain at the battle of Tewkesbury in 1 471. She d. s.p., 12 May 1495, leaving Sir Henry Roos, grandson of John Halsham aftd., her next h. The dates of death, fa'c, given above, are all taken from the inquisitions, [ex inform. G.W.Watson). V.G. Et dicunt quod Elizabetha et Philippa filie David de Strabolgi nuper Comitis Atholie quondam viri prefate Elizabethe que fuit uxor Johannis Malwayn sunt filie et propinquiores heredes predicte Elizabethe.
