He was knighted before 1352, and in 1352 was in arms, with his next br. Roger, against their father, when they sacked Castle Heleigh. He was in the wars with France (v.p.), 1359 and 1372, and was afterwards Chief Justice of South Wales, i Feb. 1381/2. He was sum. to Pari. 17 Dec. 1387 to 12 Dec. 1390. He m. (settl. (1329/30-1330/1) 5 Edw. Ill, both being then under 12) (') Elizabeth, da. of Henry (Beaumont), Lord Beaumont, by Alice, suo jure Countess of Buchan [S.]. He d. s.p., 11 July 1391, (Writ for Intj. p. m. 30 July 1391) when the Barony of Audley, together, apparently, with the Barony of Martin, fell (in accordance with modern doctrine) into abeyance between his sisters or their descendants. John Tuchet, great nephew and coh., being s. and h. of John T., who was s. and h. of Sir John Tuchet of Markeaton, co. Derby, (slain at Rochelle, 137 1), by Joan, sister of the whole blood of Nicholas, 3rd Lord Audley. He was b. 23 Apr. 137 1, and was 20 years old at the death of his said great uncle, in 139 1, to whom he was found one of his next heirs. He was in the Welsh wars against Glendower, and was sum. to Pari, as a Baron [LORD AUDLEY] 21 Dec. 1405 to 26 Aug. 1408, (') whereby the abeyance of the Barony of Audley was probably terminated in his favour ; the writ was, however, directed C) The present Editor can find no evidence for the statement that James Audley m. andly " Isabel!, da. and coh. of William Malbank, usually called Baron of Wich Malbank, " indeed the Malbank Barony had ended in coheirs more than 100 years before. " Thomas, Rowland, and James Audley, brothers of the whole blood of the last named Margery, all d. i.p. in their half-brother's life time. In Cloie Roll, 31 Edw. Ill, m. lyd, mention is made of Katharine, da. of Sir James Audley of Rouge Chastel and Heleye, wife of Thomas Spigurnel.
