Mats Bergquist

Mats Bergquist is a former Swedish diplomat. He retired from the Swedish Foreign Service in 2005 after having served i.a as Ambassador in Tel Aviv, Helsinki and London. After his retirement Bergquist was Chancellor of Växjö University, Chairman of the Board of the Swedish Institute for International Affairs and member of the Board of the Swedish Academy of War Sciences. He is the author of six books and some 150 essays and articles, mostly on Swedish and international security issues. Mats Bergquist has a Ph.D degree from Lund University and was named docent (assistant professor) in political science at the same university in 1970.

François Heisbourg

François Heisbourg is chairman of the council of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and of the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies. He is special advisor of the Paris-based Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique. His career has included positions in government, the defence industry and academia. He sat on a number of blue-ribbon bodies (most recently, the French Defence and national security White Paper, the International Commission on Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament, the International Commission on the Balkans, the EU Commission’s group of personalities on security research and development). He has published extensively on defence and security issues and is a frequent contributor to both specialist and mainstream media on such matters.

René Nyberg

René Nyberg, (www.anselm.fi) is a former Finnish diplomat. He left the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2008 after having served, i.a. as Ambassador in Vienna (the CSCE), Moscow and Berlin. He then became the CEO of the East Office of Finnish Industries (2008-13). Earlier he had served as an assistant secretary of the Parliamentary Defence Committee (PPK III) 1981.
