ITEM, It is ftatute and ordained be the Lord Governour , with advife of the three Eftaites of Parlia- ment, that the acles and ftatutes maid of before, againfl falfe Notars and witnefle , corrupters and fedu- ccresoftheminwrit, TcmporallorSpirituallcourtes , to bee obferved and keiped in all poyntes, and rati- fies and apprievis the famin of new , with this addition : 1 hat all fik perfones fall be puniihed in their pcr- foncs and gudes with all rigour : Videlicet, prefcription , banifhinganddif-membringofhande or toung, and uther paines , provided be the difpofition of the commoun Law, baith Cannon, Civill, and ftatutes of the Realme. T E M , For-fa-meikle as the Lorde Governour , and the three Eftaites of Parliamente , regairdand the exorbitant prices that everie Craftef-man within Burgh , raifis upon our Sovcraine Ladies Lieges , in all fik thinges as perteinis to their Craft , fwa that the prices ar doubled and tripled be mony of them , to the great® hurt ofthefaidis Lieges, quhilk is confiddered to be ofprafticque be the Deakones of everie craft, and the fault thereof is alway in the Proveft and Baillies of everie Burgh , that over-feis the faidis Deakones , Craftef- men, and correctis them not , conforme to the acl:e of Parliament : Therefore it is ftatute and ordained , that all Proveftes and Baillies of free Burrowes with all diligence , conveene the faidis Deakones and Craftef- men afore them , and there on everie thing perteming to Craftef-men, to ftatute and ordaine reafonable prices, efFeirand to their craft , and that the famin be put in writ, and produced afore the Lordes of the ar- tickles in the nixt Parliament , to be halden the thrid clay oi^Aprill nixt-to-cum , to be confiddered be them, gif they be reafonable , and gif fwa be , to be authorized , and gif they be unreafonable , to be reformed : And fik-like , that cfTeirand to the prices of vidtualles , that the faidis Proveft and Baillies caufe the Hoftellares to take ane reafonable price for ane mannis dinner and fupper , that they may hald their awin , and the Queenis lieges be not fa grieved and hurt throw the great prices, taken far abone all cuftome and ufe , as lies bene in this Realme afore thir dayes , and as beis ftatute hereupon in Burgh , that the famin be delivered to the Schi- refTeoftheSchire, to garre the faidis prices be keiped to Landwart.
