And that it becommeth them with moft humble and thankfull hearts, to give unfained and daily praife to their mercifull GOD, for the faiftie of every one of themfelves, and of the haill bodie ol this Common-wealth , preferved from wrack and utter confufion by the miraculous and bountifull deliverance ol his Majeftie , from the faidTreafrninmanerfore-faid. Therefore OUR SOVERAIGNE LORD with advice and con- fent of the haill Eftaites , Statutes and ordeins , that in all tymes and ages to come , the fifth day of Auguft, ihall yearlie be appoynted and kceped in all the Presbiteries and Parochins within this Realme , and bounds of his haill dominions , for public^ preachings , prayers and folemne thankf-giving to G O D for his great mercy and favour granted to this Realme , and every member thereof , by his Majefties gratious and miraculous pre- fervation, asfaidis, upon the faid day. And that all worke, labour, and other occupations, whilk may in any Wife diftraft the people from the faids godlie exercifes, and thankf-giving yearlie , upon the day forefaid , lhall fee forborne and abftained from. FORSAMEIKLE As it is clearlie underftand by the Kings Majeftie , and Eftaites of this Realme, that the augmentation of the Patrimonie and revemves of the Crovvn thereof, not onely ferves for the forth- jfetting and mainteinance of his Heighnes honour and Royall Eftaite , but alfo releaves greatlie his fubjecls of Idivers charges and heavie burdings. Therefore OUR SAID SOVERAIGNE LORD,followingthecommendableexamplesofhis pnoft Noble Progenitors , with adviie and confent of his Majefties Eftaites , unites , annexes and ineorporats lp his Heighnes Crowne , there-with to remaine perpetuallie , and infeparabliein all tymecomming , the ULands , Lordfhips , Barronies , Abbacie , and others under-written , which may nether be given in frank- |tenement, fee, or otherwife to any perfon of whatfomever Eftate or degree , without advice , decreit and deli- verance of the haill Parliament ; and for great, reafonable , profitable and icene caufes concerning the wel-fair 'of the Realme ; firft to be advifed and digeftlie confidered by the whole Eftaites. And albeit it lhall happen OUR SAID SOVERAIGNE LORD, that now is, or any of his SuccefTours, Kings of S C OT- [L A N D, to annalie or difpone the faids Lands, Lordlliips, Barronies, Abbacie , or others under-written , with (their pertinents prefentlie annexed to the Crowne, as faid is, or any part thereof; that the faids alienations ihall pe null and of nane availl : and that it fliall be leafome to the King for the ty me or his Succefiours , to receive (the faids Lands,livings, Abbacie, and others fore-faids with the pertinents,to their owne ule when ever it ihall pleafe them, without any procefle of Law, and the takers ihall refound & pay all profites that they have taken lip of the faids Lands,and others forefaids to the King,for all the time that they have had them.with fuch other
